We were honored to welcome Cherie Privett of City Missions as our guest speaker at Plano West Rotary today.

Cherie shared how City Missions is meeting real needs in our community by serving neighbors experiencing homelessness with dignity—through outreach, hygiene support, and helping individuals take meaningful steps toward stability. Their work is a powerful reminder that small acts of care can create lasting impact.

Plano West Rotary was honored to welcome 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗼𝗻 𝗕𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗹𝗲𝘆, author of 𝘓𝘰𝘷𝘦 𝘉𝘦𝘨𝘪𝘯𝘴 𝘞𝘪𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯.

This uplifting children’s book takes young readers on a lyrical journey showing how kindness, confidence, and compassion begin with learning to value yourself. Through gentle rhymes and colorful storytelling, the book encourages kids to embrace who they are and understand that when you love yourself, that kindness spreads outward to friends, family, and the wider world. It’s a heartfelt message about empathy, confidence, and making the world a better place one child at a time.

PLANO SENIORS CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR UPCOMING GRADUATION!

The members of Plano West Rotary Club (PWRC) know that you are approaching this milestone with great anticipation of taking the next step in your life and career. We wish you the best as you take that step.

One of the many activities that PWRC undertakes each year in serving our community is to assist Plano high school seniors in continuing their education by awarding six (6) one-thousand-dollar ($1,000.00) scholarships. This scholarship can be for technical or collegiate education.

Scholarships are open to high school seniors attending a Plano ISD school or who live in the city of Plano and attends another school and will be payable to their college or technical school of choice at the beginning of their first semester. Winners will provide a copy of the invoice for their tuition and their student ID number for payment.

In order to apply, it is necessary for you to submit this application by midnight on Sunday, May 3, 2026. You are required to include two (2) letters of recommendation on community service and/or leadership.

Our scholarship committee will evaluate all applications and finalists will be selected for interviews with the committee, which will take place over the weekend of May 16-17, 2026. These interviews will be virtual over ZOOM.

This scholarship is awarded based on the following criteria: Leadership, Community Service, and Need. This is not an academic based only scholarship.

You will be asked to:
1. List all volunteer and community service projects that you have participated in
2. List all leadership roles that you have held
3. List all awards and special recognitions received
4. List all extra-curricular activities or hobbies in which you participate
5. State in 100 words or less why you feel you should be awarded a scholarship from the Plano West Rotary Club.

Today our club members were grateful for the opportunity to assemble holiday boxes for Soldiers of the 994th Medical Detachment (Veterinary Services), currently deployed.

These troops are near and dear to our hearts, and we honor all military personnel serving our country.

There are still several volunteer spots left to be filled in the Plano Holiday Parade on Saturday, Dec. 13 at 2pm in Downtown Plano!

Teens age 16 and up are welcome to volunteer and earn service hours.

At our meeting this week, the Plano West Rotary Club came together to write heartfelt thank-you cards for our Veterans, a small gesture of gratitude for their service, sacrifice, and dedication to our country. 🇺🇸

We’re proud to partner with Support Our Troops to honor those who are currently serving and continue to make a difference through service above self. 💙✨

Thank you to everyone who signed up—or signed a child up—for day one of our annual backpack stuffing project to support the Plano ISD and City of Plano Back to School Fair! We were thrilled to have all these great volunteers on board for one of our most meaningful efforts—stuffing backpacks with school supplies for students across our Plano ISD community. We filled five crates that contained 170± backpacks each. Plano West Rotary will be back Wednesday and next Monday.
