**Media Release**

On September 30th, 2025, at 6:06 PM LRFFPD and auto aid departments were dispatched to Polo Club Drive in unincorporated Yorkville for the report of a structure fire. First arriving units advised fully involved attached garage with fire spreading into the home, and that multiple vehicles were fully involved with fire. Units established three lines and setup a rural water operation involving water shuttles due to no hydrants in the area. The water shuttle involved the tenders needing to be refilled about 2 miles away with a hydrant in Plano. Units confirmed all occupants were evacuated from the home.

With the ongoing fire spread, units upgraded the alarm to a 1st level box alarm bringing in many surrounding departments to assist with the operation. Fire units deemed the fire to be extinguished about an hour after units first arrived. The home unfortunately is deemed a total loss, displacing the family. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

LRFFPD is utmost thankful to the assistance provided by: KenCom Dispatch Center, Bristol Kendall Fire Protection District, Oswego Fire Protection District, Sandwich Fire Protection District, Lisbon-Seward Fire Department, Kendall County Sheriff's Office, Big Rock Fire Department, Newark Fire Protection District, Hinckley Fire Protection District, Leland Fire Department, Somonauk Community Fire Protection District, Kaneville Fire Protection District, Sugar Grove Fire Protection District, Plainfield Fire Protection District, Aurora Illinois Fire Department.

Last night at our Trustee's Meeting we had TWO awesome topics!

FF/PM Blanco was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant! We cannot wait to see the success and strives LT Blanco takes in assisting the district further itself. Thank you to Chiefs from Oswego Fire Protection District and Bristol Kendall Fire Protection District in assisting with the interviews to establish the promotion list.

Next, we recognized 5 of our members, 2 from Bristol Kendall Fire Protection District, and 3 from Plano Illinois Police Department for their efforts in responding to a cardiac arrest. Their efforts restored life for the individual who was suffering cardiac arrest. LRF units were finishing actions on an accident involving extrication on Galena RD when KenCom dispatch notified police and fire units of the emergency. Plano PD arrived first and delivered multiple shocks and rounds of CPR. LRF engine and chief along with a BK Medic unit arrived and administered Advanced Life Support medications, advanced airway, and automated CPR device. The efforts restored life, and the patient was able to return home. Not pictured is the extraordinary Emergency Medical Dispatchers that provided call taking and instructions to the caller, plus those that dispatched fire and police. Also, the patient's spouse is missing. Without their CPR before units arrived, the patient's outcome would have been much different.

The action from all responders shows the efforts, and deep relations we continue to utmost appreciate to provide the best care. We cannot express our appreciation to for our relations with our PD, and neighboring FD's.
