Veterans Center of North Texas - VCONT

Veterans Center of North Texas - VCONT Assist Veterans of all ages navigate the network of public and private agencies to obtain assistance The Veterans Center of North Texas, Inc.

(VCONT) is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to enabling Veterans, of all ages, and their families to transition into the civilian environment and maintain productive lifestyles. There are over 160,000 Veterans living in the 6 North Texas counties serviced by VCONT - Collin, Cooke, Fannin, Grayson, Hunt, and Rockwall. This number is expected to increase to over 200,000 over the next 5 years due t

o the military force reductions recently announced by the Department of Defense. According to the George W. Bush Institute Military Initiative, 67% of Veterans either don't know where to get help or won't seek help due to a previous bad experience. The VCONT closes this gap by assessing each Veteran's individual needs and referring them to the service providers best qualified to address their needs. The VCONT not only helps Veterans receive better service, it optimizes the time and resources for the service providers. The VCONT provides Veterans assistance in the areas of employment, housing, education, health, transportation, financial aid and consultation, legal services, support services, community reintegration, Veteran benefits, food services, personal assistance, and care giver assistance. There are two keys aspects to the success of the VCONT's service model. First, is our strategic alliances with the 100+ "best in class" service organizations in North Texas. We have evaluated over 1,500 organizations and selected the ones best suited to assist our North Texas Veterans. Second, is getting the word out to Veterans on how to reach us. The VCONT has a program to continuously raise community awareness about our capabilities and ensure Veterans are referred to us for help. We work with local Civic and Veterans organizations; major corporations and small businesses; and elected and appointed officials at the local, county, state and national level to maintain a high level of awareness with the Veteran community.
