As Democrats, we believe in embracing innovative platforms like TikTok to connect, educate, and empower diverse communities, particularly younger generations. TikTok has become a vital tool for amplifying marginalized voices, spreading awareness about critical issues, and fostering creativity in ways that traditional platforms often cannot. While addressing privacy concerns responsibly is crucial, Donald Trump's suggestion that the U.S. government should control 50% of the platform, represents a dangerous overreach and a misunderstanding of free markets and free expression. Such proposals would stifle innovation and set a troubling precedent for government interference in private enterprises. Instead, we should focus on implementing thoughtful regulations that ensure user safety while preserving the ability of technology to bring people together and spark positive change.

President-elect Donald Trump said he would revive TikTok access in the U.S. by executive order, but wants the app to be at least half owned by U.S. investors.

The MLK Parade has been postponed due to extreme cold weather. It has been rescheduled to February 22nd at 10 am.
BUT there will be an event indoors on MLK Jr. Day —

"In recognition of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, we will host an indoor special celebration at 10:30 AM on January 20th. Join us as we honor Dr. King’s legacy and reflect on his vision for justice, equality, and peace. The program will be held in the Douglass Community at Hill Chapel CME Church, located at 1113 I Avenue, Plano, Texas. We look forward to celebrating with you!"
