Man oh man I wish The City of Plant City Supported it’s first responders like Hillsborough County and The City of Tampa do. You read these quotes about how excited they were to take care of their employees. Meanwhile the City of Plant City digs their heals in to prove a point. They don’t care how many First Responders leave to go to other Departments. They’ll just Hire more!! You would think as a former Police Chief the City Manager would want the absolute best for the City’s first Responders like Jane Castor obviously does. If there are any delays to 911 calls due to understaffing from being underpaid, you sure know who to blame!!

The City of Plant City wants to limit who they can hire to applicants who live with in 20 miles from City Hall or in Hillsborough County. With these other 2 departments getting huge raises on top of what is posted. Who in their right mind with in 20 miles would apply for Plant City Fire, unless The City comes off their wallet to help protect their Citizens. So not only do they pay less but if they hire you, you must move to one of the most expensive Counties in the state! All on your dime, oh yeah, then you must pay for Paramedic School on your own dime as well. But that’s a story for another time. Wouldn’t you want to broaden your search to hire the best possible employees to help protect the Citizens of Plant City!

Another awesome raise for a local Fire Department!! We’ve already had one employeee leave for Tampa Fire since this raise was published. With Tampa Fire conducting interviews this week, makes you wonder how many more Firefighters we will lose this week….. Again the City Of Plant City thinks we are only worth 1/3 of Tampa’s Firefighters. They proposed a whopping 6% raise to prevent losing Firefighters to other departments. Bold move Cotton! Let’s see how this plays out!

The Tampa City Council on Thursday approved the increases, which will be rolled out over three years to union workers.

This is awesome for our HCFR brothers and sisters!! The City of Plant City unfortunately thinks we are only worth 1/5 of HCFR employees. They offered us a whopping 6% raise to stay “competitive”. No wonder we costantly have Firefighter leave for other departments who actually care about their employees. Mind you we were already behind 15% before this 29% raise. Our City sure knows how to take care of us 🙄.

County commissioners are expected to approve the union contract on Thursday.

Fun Fact of the day!! Plant City Fire department has lost 37 Firefighters to other local departments in the last 7 years. Mostly due to the City refusing to stay competitive on $$$!!!
