The Plantation Fire Department Fire Chief has announced the promotion of Capt. Janelle Keyser to the rank of Battalion Chief!

Chief Don Todd wishes our newest Battalion Chief the very best, as she begins the next phase of her career.

Battalion Chief Keyser joined the department in 2004.

Over the next 20 years she was promoted to Lieutenant (2018), and Captain (2024) obtained numerous State of Florida Certifications.

She has earned a Bachelors of Science Degree in Emergency Management, and she is currently working on her Masters degree in Executive Fire Administration.

When Chief Keyser is not on shift at the Fire Department. She likes to play pickleball, go paddleboarding, travel to adventurous locations around the World, go camping and do pretty much anything outdoors.

We would like to thank her for many years of dedication and hard work. And we ask you to please join us in congratulating Battalion Chief Janelle Keyser on her well deserved promotion! Stay safe out there!

🚨 NOTICE TO RESIDENTS 🚨

If you are noticing smoke or a smoky odor in the Plantation area, it is due to an ongoing wildfire in the Everglades, not an incident within the City of Plantation.

Changing wind conditions may cause smoke to be visible and create a noticeable smell throughout the area.

Today, the Plantation Fire Department congratulates Matt Rogers on his promotion to lieutenant!

Matt joined us in 2018, and was promoted to Driver in 2022, and Crew Chief in 2025. Matt has played a crucial role for us in learning about and maintaining our communications assets, as well as being a licensed drone pilot for our Training and Operations Divisions.

Lt. Rogers is assigned to PFD Station 2, and is often part of our critical responses on the Florida Turnpike.
