🕯️🚲 WELCOME TO THE UPSIDE DOWN OF LEADERSHIP! 🚲🕯️

This week, the South Plantation High School SGA delegation traveled to Nova Southeastern University for South Florida Leadership Training Camp (SFLTC)!

Our Paladins had an awesome time exploring new leadership skills, building friendships, and discovering what it takes to become stronger leaders for our school and community.

⭐ Hawkins Hall of Fame: ⭐

🏆 SGA President Kevin Herrera for receiving the Michael H. Roland Award and being Phoenix Honor Council!

🏆 SGA Advisor Jennifer Collins receiving the Dr. Brian W. Dassler for her outstanding leadership and dedication to student leadership programs.

From the campfire to the leadership sessions, our delegation proved that even when faced with challenges from the Upside Down.

🔦 The adventure may be over, but the leadership journey continues. 🔦

13 folds that carry deep meaning: honor, sacrifice, gratitude, and remembrance.

Each fold reflects a life, a promise, and the cost of the freedoms we live with today. In honor of Memorial Day, may we not only remember, but truly be grateful. 🇺🇸🕊

Congratulations Dr. Berman💜💛

We are thrilled to celebrate Dr. Jody Berman’s incredible achievement as she receives the prestigious Environmental Teacher of the Year award for Broward County! 🎉 Her dedication to environmental education and her unwavering commitment to sustainability have truly made a lasting impact.

Berman has been a beacon of inspiration in classrooms for 21 years, fostering a deep appreciation for the environment among her students. Her efforts in the Environmental Science and Everglades Restoration magnet are nothing short of extraordinary..

YEA’s longstanding partnership with Dr. Berman has been one of mutual growth , friendship, and shared vision. Her advocacy for incorporating YEA programs into her classrooms has been invaluable, introducing students and teachers to innovative projects and real-world applications of environmental science. She has played a crucial role in integrating YEA’s initiatives 💚, such as habitat restoration and wildlife conservation projects, into the curriculum, providing students with unique opportunities to engage actively with their surroundings.

Jody’s enthusiasm for citizen science and her role as a Florida Master Naturalist have enriched our community, and strengthened our partnership as she took courses from our very own Tanawha! 🐸 We’ve watched her thrive and lead her students with energy and dedication, making a real difference in their lives and in our community.

Congratulations, Dr. Berman, on this well-deserved recognition! Here’s to many more years of inspiring stewardship and impactful education. 🌿👏

Dear South Plantation Family,
We invite you to join for re-dedicate Susie’s Garden on our campus.💜💛

Susie served as a Guidance Data Specialist at South Plantation High School and was a valued member of our community. She passed away in 2013 after a battle with breast cancer, but her kindness, dedication, and impact continue to be felt by all who knew her.

In her memory, a garden was created as a peaceful space to visit and pay respect to the other Paladins we have lost over the years.

SGA has cleaned up the area, created a garden space that includes a memorial bench, plaque, and personalized stones. It is a place for reflection and remembrance.

Honoring the memory of: Susie Streicher, Hernan Borja, Faye Boyles, Janie Duarte, Melody Friedman, Connie Hammock, Bill Houser, Vincent Ippolito, Tommy James, Paul Liotti, Chet Ludwig, John Parsons, Ron Reed, Donna Rose, Michael Smith, Donald Smith, Brenton Wan, and Bill Worrell

The dedication ceremony will take place on:
Friday, May 15 at 3:30 PM
Susie’s Garden (on campus)

Between the football and Baseball fields near the flagpole.

We hope you will join us as we come together to honor Susie’s legacy and the lasting difference she made in our school community.
