Plattsmouth EMS Department

Plattsmouth EMS Department We are a municipal and rural 911 EMS Department PEMS is a combination EMS department, which means we have a combination of paid and volunteer staffing.

We are a 911 only department and we run approximately 900 calls per year. From simple medical calls and vehicle accidents, to fires and water rescues - and everything in between. We work hand in hand with the Plattsmouth Volunteer Fire Department and have several members who choose to staff both departments. The EMS Department is led by the Director of EMS Michael Wood, followed by EMS Captain To

m Drake. All volunteers are required to be "on duty" a minimum of 24 hours a month. Many of the volunteers choose to go above and beyond - in excess of 150 hours.

Cancer Sucks! All too often it hits close to home. Linda Preston is a genuinely good person, who puts the needs of others in front of her own. She has served on our department for the last two years as an EMT. While being a member, she showed amazing strength and resolve, during her first bout with Cancer. Strength that she will no doubt need going forward.

As a Department we want to show our support in any way that we can. Thank you to our members that put this fundraiser together. The road can be long and painful, hopefully this helps to alleviate some of the burden associated with the fight.

Linda, you got this!

Linda is the definition of a wonderful, sweet, and loving person. She has a great love for her family, horses, and helping others. She has even beat cancer once before. As an EMT, she always puts others' needs before her own. Recently Linda has found out her cancer has returned; Hodgkin's Lymphoma S...

Bittersweet seems like an appropriate way to start this post. As many of you reading this are already aware, the City of Plattsmouth/Plattsmouth EMS had to make an emergency purchase of a new Ambulance, due to catastrophic mechanic failure to our current fleet. This purchase is a GIANT step forward for our Department. We are incredibly appreciative to everyone who made this possible: Mayor, Paul Lambert; City Administrator, Erv Portis; Plattsmouth City Council and the Rural Fire Board. As we welcome Squad 1 to the fleet we have to say goodbye to Squad 2. This Ambulance has been serving this community for 20 years and though its story won’t end here, its time with our department has ended. We are excited to enter this new era and look forward to utilizing this new piece of equipment to better serve our community!
