Last week, Pleasant Hill Councilmember Amanda Szakats and I hosted Coffee with Ken and Amanda at Little Red Bistro to meet with our consituents, hear what's on their minds, and connect with the community we're proud to serve.

On Sunday, I joined our community in celebrating LGBTQIA+ Pride Month. Clayton hosts an annual Pride Parade along Main Street and residents from across the county line up the sidewalks to celebrate with their loved ones.

I had the honor to take part in the parade in Clayton, and the Pride flag-raising ceremonies in Concord and Walnut Creek.

June is a reminder of how far we've come in the fight for equality and how much we still have left to go.

Contra Costa County will always be a welcoming place for all. Happy Pride. πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆπŸ³οΈβ€βš§οΈ

On Monday, I joined my fellow elected officials, community leaders, veterans and their families for Memorial Day ceremonies in Concord and Clayton, Walnut Creek, and at the Soldiers' Memorial Monument in Pleasant Hill.

With more than 72,000 veterans and their families calling Contra Costa their home, our county is deeply interwoven into the history of service to our country.

They are the bravest among us who gave the ultimate sacrifice, and we will never forget.

On this Memorial Day, we pause to honor the brave men and women who gave everything in service to our country. Their sacrifice will never be forgotten. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

I'm proud to recognize a quiet but essential cornerstone of our region: the Contra Costa Water District (CCWD), who marked their 90th anniversary this year.

Nine decades of reliable, high-quality service is no small feat. On behalf of District IV and the entire Board of Supervisors, I'm honored to celebrate CCWD's legacy and to express our sincere appreciation for their continued service to our community.

This month, the Board of Supervisors held the annual Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Commemorative Celebration.

Our county is home to a thriving AANHPI community, and I'm proud to recognize them and their contributions to our county.

I spent time last week with some thoughtful 5th grade students from Sequoia Elementary.

Each group worked on projects centered on equality, community, and the kind of world they want to grow up in. They are a powerful reminder of why my work matters, and I'm proud to have signed their Parent's Pledge for Gender Equality.

If you would like to sign it too, you can visit tinyurl.com/SequoiaParentsPledge.
