Center of Gravity Center of Gravity is a STEM-focused early education preschool located in Pleasant Hill, CA. We're currently enrolling ages 26 months - TK for Fall 2026!

Children are our . Here at CoG we foster community, cultivate creativity and curiosity, and nurture innovation. Year round, Monday thru Friday, 7am - 6pm. We have credentialed faculty with CA Department of Education, National Board Certified early learning standards for Birth to Eight, daily private chef and weekly martial arts, music and movement. We now have a program-wide tradition of tie-dying tshirts for all students at end-of-year promotion and graduation. For us tie-dying is more than just a trend; its symbol of connection, belonging, and diversity. All together, not the same. Ever year we close for 5-days so faculty can reset classrooms (and nervous systems) in prep for the incoming year. This year we are recreating a full Atelier and learning lab studio for our time together. Remembering learning in the early years is deeply connected to whimsy and magic; as well as academics and design 🧡🩵🧡

Each year all of our classrooms and students prepare songs and brief performances for families and fitness for year-end and promotion. We follow the state PTK Learning Foundations/Standards (CDE), specifically the Visual and Performing Arts sections to help inform and support our instructional practices and engagement with young children. Play and Performance IS learning! 🧡🩵🧡

Here at the Center of Gravity we braid brain science with academics AND free play: to support children’s interests and highest developments; including sensory integration, social emotional learning, and design thinking. Today our eldest classroom The Coders were working on creating (and serving) a variety of “mud samples” of their own creation. Some students were mixing some students were cleaning some students were serving samples all of them working collaboratively and with minimal to no adult intervention or guidance High supports early in the year from our credential teachers lend to Rich and creative collaborative play by this time of year we highly recommend families and early educators use to describe what you see young Children doing when It looks like they are “just playing”. REMINDER: Play is the highest form of research. - Albert Einstein 🧡🩵🧡✨

We support young children to explore and be curious about the broader world around us. Including large community field trips to the Oakland Zoo each summer as one of our culminating end-of-year all@school events. Huge shout out to our incredible faculty for all of the safety and instructional prep that went into making today possible, as well as our 40+ family chaperones! 🧡🩵🧡

Every Friday we come together as community and sing songs together with our students, families, and faculty. Today we sang together in the lower meadow of the Oakland Zoo for our final bus field trip of the year. Community is our first and most important core value. Second only to Creativity and Innovation. Children thrive at the center of their community and family systems. Together we are stronger and lead with LOVE 🧡🩵🧡

We grow apples in our front garden at our Gregory Lane (GL) Campus. Earlier this week our Designer TK Class asked to and some of the ripening apples - using magnifying glasses and close observation.

When teachers partner with children based on their ideas and interests - amazing content and inquiry can happen.
