❤️ Prepared to Save a Life! 🚑

We recently had the opportunity to complete CPR, First Aid, and AED training with Newton Local Schools!

This training helps ensure that our teachers and school staff have the knowledge, skills, and confidence to take action when seconds matter. Being prepared before an emergency happens can make all the difference.

And we’re not stopping at the schools! We will soon be offering FREE CPR, First Aid, and AED classes to members of our community. Our goal is to help make sure our entire community is better prepared to respond when someone needs help.

Members continued our pump operations training focusing on portable ground monitor and handline deployment this evening.

We are one step closer to taking delivery of our new Engine 65. The apparatus committee traveled to the manufacturing plant this week to perform the final inspection. This engine will replace an engine that has been owned and operates by the Department since 1989. Next steps include graphics and tool mounting before taking delivery!

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Mark's family and Covington Fire & Rescue Inc. Mark served Pleasant Hill in the early and mid 1990s before joining Covington. May he rest in peace and his family and friends find comfort in the days to come.

This past week, members trained on drafting and pump operations for rural settings. While the village has fire hydrants to obtain water from, in areas that do not have hydrants we bring our own water via tankers and draft water out of portable dump tanks to fight the fire with. Our members train continuously to hone in our skills to better serve our community.

Is anyone missing your puppy? Crews are doing training at the school and she decided to swing by and visit. No collar.

We will have her at the firehouse as long as we can

As we celebrate the Fourth of July with family, friends, cookouts, and fireworks, the Pleasant Hill-Newton Twp Joint Fire District wishes everyone a fun and memorable holiday.

If you're using fireworks, please make safety your top priority:
🎆 Follow all local laws and manufacturer instructions.
🎆 Keep a bucket of water or a hose nearby.
🎆 Never allow young children to handle or ignite fireworks.
🎆 Light one firework at a time and move away quickly.
🎆 Never relight a firework that doesn't go off.

We're just over 1 week from the 2026 Lights up the Night Festival! 🎆

Be sure to stop by and see us at the Festival at the Fire & EMS tent and pick up some goodies for the kids!

The Festival is kicking off with a parade starting at 4pm. See attached flyer for more information! We urge anyone with a float, classic car or tractor, or any other group you'd like to showcase to come be apart of the parade. There is no sign up & details are in the flyer.
