Over the past few weeks, HTFR has been doing a lot of auto extrication training both as a refresher for all of our personnel, but also giving our newest hires and folks that have recently graduated fire school a lot of hands-on tool time.

Each new hire was taught a rip and blitz, reverse rip and blitz, 5 different ways to lift a dash, how to capture a suspension, how to take window and windshield glass, tunneling, and a variety of stabilization techniques.

Thanks to Phipps Auto for the car’s!

NOAA Weather Radios are a great tool for keeping yourself safe and aware of storms even when the powers out.

⛈️ NO POWER? NO PROBLEM! 📻

When severe weather knocks out the power, your TV, Wi-Fi, and even cell service may not be there when you need them. That’s why a NOAA Weather Alert Radio is an important part of your emergency preparedness kit.

A NOAA Weather Radio can:
🔋 Keep working with battery backup during a power outage
📡 Use S.A.M.E. technology to alert you for hazards affecting your specific area
🔔 Sound an alert even when you aren’t actively listening
🕐 Provide weather and emergency information 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
And here in Warren County, NOAA Weather Radio station WXJ46 provides coverage throughout the county.

Don’t rely on just one way to receive warnings. Stay informed. Stay prepared.
when buying one, and change the batteries the same day you change your smoke alarm batteries

Cadet James Diss Jr. participated in a 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb this past Friday, completing 110 flights of stairs in honor of the firefighters who made the climb inside the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001.

James is a student at the Warren County Career Center, enrolled in their high school Fire and EMS program. We are extremely proud of his dedication, commitment, and participation in this event.

Our cadets represent the foundation of future generations of Fire and EMS professionals, something clearly demonstrated by the many current leaders in the fire service who began their careers as cadets, including several area chiefs who are HTFR cadet alumni.

Firehouse Renovation Update:

Drywall is up, the shower stalls are installed, and mudding and sanding are underway. Painting and tile work are next. We remain on schedule and anticipate completing the renovation on or before November 1, 2026.

Many residents have asked whether voting will take place at the firehouse this year. Yes — voting will still be held at Station 81. Depending on construction progress, it may be located in the meeting hall or in the apparatus bays, but work should be finished before the November elections. Please confirm voting details with your local election office to ensure accuracy.
