🦺 Reconstruction to begin along WIS 50 in Kenosha County 🦺

On February 4, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) will begin the reconstruction of WIS 50, from 117th Avenue in Pleasant Prairie to 43rd Avenue in Kenosha.

Initial progress will consist of installing temporary traffic signals, temporary roadway widening, storm sewer and bridge work.

Project Improvements
• Widening the roadway from four to six lanes between 117th and 57th avenues
• Reconstructing the existing four-lane road between 57th and 43rd avenues
• Implementing access management measures, including safer driveway and median modifications
• Adding sidewalk and bicycle accommodations

Work in 2021
117th Avenue to 88th Avenue
• Expanding to six lanes (three in each direction)
• New intersection configuration at 109th Avenue
88th Avenue to 70th Avenue
• Bridge improvements at railroad crossings and 77th Avenue
• Construct retaining walls and pond near WIS 31 intersection
• Service interchange at 77th Avenue

What to Expect
• Access to businesses and residences will be maintained
• Majority of WIS 50 will have two open lanes in each direction during peak travel hours
• To help minimize traffic impacts, multiple lane closures and detours may be used during the overnight hours.

The contractor, Zignego Company, is planning on completing the $88 million contract by early 2023. The schedule of work is weather dependent and subject to change.

Spectrum Customers: Many of us have seen a decrease an internet speeds and intermittent issues throughout the neighborhood. After deeper conversations with Spectrum they have shared with us that the bandwidth utilization for the neighborhood is around 93% starting at 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. . Typically they do not want the utilization to rise above 70% and prior to the quarantine our utilization was trending in the 50% range. They are working on increasing the capacity for our area but do not have an ETA at this time. You are still in encouraged to contact Spectrum if you have issues, but it may be a while until we have additional bandwidth capacity.
