Early-Morning Pursuit Leads to Arrest and Recovery of Stolen Vehicle & Firearm

Early this morning, Pleasant Prairie officers attempted to stop a vehicle that had fled from a neighboring jurisdiction and was reported stolen out of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. A pursuit was initiated but later terminated as the suspect vehicle continued into Illinois and drove in a reckless manner, creating an unnecessary danger to the public.

A short time later, the vehicle re-entered Pleasant Prairie. Officers quickly coordinated their response and successfully brought the vehicle to a stop. Both occupants surrendered without incident.

The driver, a 26-year-old Kenosha man, was taken into custody and faces multiple felony and misdemeanor charges, including Fleeing/Eluding an Officer, Operating a Motor Vehicle Without the Owner's Consent, Theft of a Firearm, Second-Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, and Possession of Marijuana/THC.

While we frequently share information about vehicle pursuits on our page, our goal is not to highlight the pursuit itself, but rather our commitment to protecting the community and holding offenders accountable. Reckless driving puts everyone at risk, and reducing dangerous behavior on our roadways helps save lives.

You can do your part by obeying speed limits, staying focused behind the wheel, and driving responsibly.

Nearing the end of Mental Health Awareness Month, we want to recognize the incredible work of our Co-Responder, Tori Shelton, and the positive impact she continues to have within our department and community.

Recently, Tori provided training to our officers on the Columbia-Suicide Severity Rating Scale (C-SSRS), helping equip our personnel with additional tools to better recognize and respond to individuals experiencing mental health crises.

Since joining our department, she has become an invaluable resource, helping connect community members with county services, assisting individuals and families during difficult moments, and strengthening the partnership between public safety and mental health support.

We are grateful for her compassion and commitment to serving those in need. Thank you for everything you do for our community.

As National Police Week 2026 comes to a close, we want to sincerely thank this incredible community for the overwhelming support shown to our officers, dispatchers, and staff throughout the week.

From thoughtful “Adopt-A-Cop” baskets and countless meals delivered to our department, to kind words, messages, and gestures of appreciation: your support never goes unnoticed. It serves as a reminder that Pleasant Prairie is truly a special place to serve.

This week also gave us the opportunity to recognize the outstanding work of our personnel during our annual Awards Banquet, where officers and dispatchers were honored for their dedication, professionalism, and service during incidents throughout the past year. We are incredibly proud of the work they do each and every day.

We were also honored to receive commemorative semiquincentennial badges, recognizing the upcoming 250th anniversary of the United States, through the generosity of the Pleasant Prairie Police Appreciation Foundation. These badges proudly represent both our profession and our nation’s history.

Additionally, members of our Honor Guard proudly participated in the Kenosha County Law Enforcement Memorial Service on May 13, honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their communities.

To everyone who helped make this week meaningful: thank you. Your continued support means more than words can express, and we are grateful to serve such an amazing community.

Immediate Release: Incident Update from May 15th, 2026 - Suspicious Package

At approximately 8:14p.m., officers responded to Dairy Queen, located at 4612 75th Street in Pleasant Prairie, WI, regarding a possible hazardous device found near the entrance of the business.

Officers arrived and located the device in an area that posed a potential threat to patrons and surrounding businesses. Due to the circumstances and out of an abundance of caution, several nearby businesses were evacuated and a portion of 75th Street was temporarily closed while the investigation was conducted.

Members of the Kenosha County Bomb Squad were requested to assist. Bomb Squad Technicians evaluated and safely neutralized the device so its contents could be further examined. Although the device was ultimately believed to be non-hazardous and not a threat to the community, these precautionary actions were taken out of an abundance of caution to ensure the safety of the public.

At this time, the incident appears to be isolated, with no ongoing threat to the community. The investigation remains ongoing.

We would like to thank our community members and business partners for their patience and cooperation during this incident. We also appreciate the assistance provided by Pleasant Prairie Fire and Rescue, Kenosha County Sheriff's Office, and the Kenosha Police Department.
