The Oakland County Water Resources Commission (WRC) is working to address a water main issue on Cambridge near Woodward. That repair requires them to shut down the water main on Cambridge between Woodward and Ridge.

We do not have an estimate for how long the shutdown will last due to the nature of the work and the uncertainties caused by our old water infrastructure.

You should expect to experience brown water after water service is restored. This is a common issue with our old water mains whenever one is shut down or when fire hydrants are opened. It is caused by sediment shaking loose from the inside of the cast iron water main. If you have brown water, run the cold water tap closest to your water meter continuously to flush the pipes until it runs clear again. This usually takes 5-15 minutes. We recommend running the faucet closest to the water meter in your basement to minimize how far into your internal plumbing the brown water goes. Do not run a hot water tap until the water runs clear to avoid drawing the sediment into your hot water heater.

The shutdown is not expected to require a boil-water notice unless we discover larger issues that must be repaired. If that happens, WRC will notify you with an flyer specifically stating that you are on a boil water notice on your front door.

Thank you for your patience with these disruptions while we work make this water system repair.

The Oakland County Water Resources Commission (WRC) is working to address a water main issue on Gainsboro. That repair requiries them to shut water main valves in the area.

This process may cause east side residents to lose water service or water pressure for a period of time during the day today when WRC closes the valves. We do not have an estimate for what time during the day or how long that will be due to the nature of the work and the uncertainties caused by our old water infrastructure.

Water is shut off on Amherst between Indiana and Gainsboro for an emergency water service line repair. Water will be restored this afternoon.

Be sure to run the faucet closest to your water meter until the water runs clear as you will likely have brown sediment in your water due to the shutoff. Do not run all of the faucets in your house, only the one closest to the meter until the water runs clear. This could take 5-10 minutes.

Salt bucket fill moved to Tuesday, December 16.

Salt delivery is being delayed until next week because we're looking at wet and wintry weather on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week. Brilar crews will be busy with snow clearing and we can't be certain when their crews will be rested and ready to fill buckets, or what the weather will be late this week.

As a reminder, residents may place up to three 5-gallon buckets at the end of your driveway to be filled. Please have them out by 9 am on Tuesday, December 16. It will most likely take more than one day to fill all salt buckets in the City, so please be patient if your buckets are not filled on the 16th and leave them out until they're filled. This will be the only time salt buckets are filled this winter.

You may also want to label your buckets with your address in case we need to take them away to fill them (not likely, but possible).

Due to the snow in the forecast the next few days we will not be able to fill salt buckets this week. Brilar crews will be busy plowing and salting here and
