The members of the Pleasant Valley Police Department extend our deepest condolences to the Missouri State Highway Patrol and to the family, friends, and fellow Troopers mourning the loss of Corporal Gary Daniels.

The loss of a public servant is felt far beyond a single agency. It impacts families, coworkers, friends, and entire communities. It is also a sobering reminder of the challenges, pressures, and unseen burdens that law enforcement officers, dispatchers, firefighters, EMS personnel, and other first responders carry every day in service to others.

No one should have to face those struggles alone.

If you or someone you know is hurting, please reach out. Help is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week:

• 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline – Call or text 988
• Copline (Law Enforcement Peer Support) – 1-800-267-5463
• First Responder Crisis Support – Text BADGE to 741741
• Crisis Text Line – Text HOME to 741741

Today, we stand alongside our Missouri law enforcement family as they navigate this difficult loss.

Please take care of yourselves, check in on one another, and remember that asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness

🚔🌹 Sometimes the best part of the job isn’t writing tickets—it’s making connections.

Officer Englander recently conducted a traffic stop on Stewart Road near Liberty Drive after observing a vehicle speeding.

The stop resulted in citations for expired registration and failure to provide proof of current financial responsibility. However, after speaking with the occupants and addressing the violations, the interaction turned into something unexpected.

The passenger was so appreciative of the officer’s professionalism and the warning issued for the speeding violation that she handed him a rose and insisted he take it home.

Officer Englander says his goal during every traffic stop is simple: earn a thank you, a handshake, or a fist bump. While enforcement is an important part of keeping our roads safe, traffic stops can also be opportunities for education, communication, and positive interactions with the community we serve.

As for the rose? It’s safe to say that was a first. 🌹😄

And before anyone asks—he reminded them that warnings are a one-time deal!

Thank you to the citizens who make moments like these possible. We are proud to serve this community.

Today, Officer Hicok had the opportunity to visit the Fort Osage Career & Technology Center CSI/Law Enforcement program — a classroom that holds special meaning to him as an alumni of the program himself.

Officer Hicok spent the day interacting with students, discussing careers in public safety, and sharing his experiences serving the community as both a 911 dispatcher and police officer. Students were able to gain valuable insight into the realities of working in emergency communications and law enforcement while asking questions and learning from someone who once sat in the very same classroom.

The Pleasant Valley Police Department is proud of Officer Hicok’s commitment to mentoring future public safety professionals and giving back to programs that help prepare the next generation for careers in service. Opportunities like these strengthen the connection between education and real-world experience while inspiring students to pursue meaningful careers serving their communities.

Thank you to the Fort Osage CTC CSI/Law Enforcement program for welcoming us today!

Saturday, the officers of the Pleasant Valley Police Department spent the day on the range sharpening critical skills that help keep both our officers and community safe.

Range training is about far more than marksmanship — it’s about decision-making, communication, accountability, safety, and maintaining proficiency under pressure. Regular fi****ms training ensures our officers are prepared to respond professionally and responsibly when faced with difficult situations.

We are proud of the dedication our officers continue to show in training, teamwork, and commitment to excellence. Thank you to all of the instructors and personnel who helped make today’s training a success.

A line of severe thunderstorms is expected to develop later this evening, presenting a damaging wind risk and the potential for a brief tornado generally north of the US-50 corridor. There is a conditional risk for isolated severe storms to develop out ahead of this line, which will present mainly damaging wind/large hail threats. However, the greatest likelihood for this will be further west. There is also a concern for flooding with heavy rainfall from this round of storms and future storms on Monday.
