Being ready for the call starts long before the tones drop!

This week, about a dozen members of our duty crew hit the training grounds for hose layout and deployment drills led by Daniel “Chunk” Nelms. Every rep builds the skills, teamwork, and confidence needed to perform when it matters most!

Train hard. Stay ready!

This Memorial Day, we pause to honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. Their courage, service, and sacrifice will never be forgotten!

As we spend time with family and friends today, we remember those who gave everything to protect the freedoms we enjoy every day!

From all of us at Pleasant View Fire Department, thank you to our fallen heroes and the families who carry their legacy forward!

Over the last several months, we have interviewed and evaluated several outstanding individuals as part of our continued effort to strengthen and grow the leadership team of the Pleasant View Volunteer Fire Department.

We are excited to announce the promotion of three new Lieutenants to the PVVFD leadership team:

Lt. Matthew Johnson

Lt. Raul Contreras

Lt. Jacob Morton

All three will officially begin their roles as Lieutenants on June 1, 2026.

We are proud to add these individuals to our leadership team and are confident their dedication, experience, and leadership skills will help take PVVFD to the next level as we continue serving our community.

Please join us in congratulating and welcoming them into their new roles!

Strong water supply starts long before the line is charged!

Around 25 firefighters spent the day sharpening their understanding of water supply operations through classroom instruction and hands on training led by Chief Nelms. From strategy and setup to practical application, the crew put in the work to build a stronger foundation for the fireground.

Training never stops, and neither does the commitment to serving our community at the highest level.

This past Friday, training never stopped at Pleasant View Fire!

Our day shift crews got reps in with Daniel Nelms, diving deeper into hotel FDC connections and the details that matter when seconds count.

The evening crew worked on basic water supply, hydrant operations, and a little FDC connection understanding to keep building strong fundamentals with Matt Johnson.

Every shift. Every rep. Getting better for the community we serve.

When seconds matter most, training matters more!

This month’s Tacos & Tactics dives into the fire service’s “Super Bowl” a working fire with confirmed occupants trapped.

FFs Kacey Manning and William Witherspoon of NFD shared their firsthand lessons from a residential fire response involving two children trapped inside, along with the tactics, strategies, and mindset needed for these high stakes calls.

Real experiences. Real lessons. Real preparation for the moments that matter most.
