Pleasanton PD JANUARY 2024 ACTIVITY REPORT

During the month of January, 2024, Pleasanton Police Department had a total of 232 Calls for Service, and opened 44 case reports.

PPD conducted a total of 116 Car stops, for an average of 3.75 car stops per day, or an average of 2 car stops per officer per 12 hour shift. A total of 18 car stops resulted in citations issued, which means only 15 percent of car stops resulted in a citation. In addition, as a result of car stops, Pleasanton PD opened 8 criminal cases, including 4 DUI arrests, multiple drug possession cases, multiple driving while suspended cases, and 2 warrant arrests.

In addition to car stops, Pleasanton PD officers responded to a variety of calls for service, including multiple animal/dog complaints, citizen assist calls, welfare checks, and suspicious person/vehicle calls. Pleasanton Officers also conducted multiple building checks throughout the month.

Of the 44 case reports, 20 were criminal in nature, and included a felony drug search warrant, a kidnapping case, an assault case, multiple harassment cases, and additional drug possession and warrant arrests, besides those which resulted from car stops.

Pleasanton PD also assisted with multiple medical/ambulance situations throughout the month and took one unattended death call. Officers also took a few auto collision and motorist assist calls.

On Janauary 25th, 2024, at around 4:00 pm, Pleasanton Police Department Officers conducted a Felony Drug Search Warrant on a residence in Pleasanton city limits, which resulted in the arrest of one individual and the recovery of significant amounts of drugs and paraphernalia.

The arrested individual is facing charges of Distribution of Opiates(m**hamphetamines), Possession of Opiates, Aggravated Endangering a Child(Expose Child to Production/Distribution of Methamphetamines), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession of Marinuana(with 2 or more prior convictions).

This search warrant also resulted in an arrest warrant being issued for an additional individual with the same charges.

Over 65 pieces of drug paraphernalia were recovered during the ex*****on of the warrant, including 16 syringes, many of which were loaded, about 15 various m**h and Ma*****na pipes and 7 bongs, along with scales, baggies and 46 Ma*****na containers.

Charges are officially pending at the Linn County Attorney's Office, and arrested individuals are considered innocent until proven guilty.

On December 19th, 2023, at around 11:00 pm Pleasanton Police Department officers conducted a traffic stop which resulted in the arrest of one individual on charges of Distribution of opiates, Drug DUI, Possession of drug paraphernalia, and aggravated endangering of a child. This case adds to Pleasanton Police Department's current record breaking year in drug cases. We would like to thank the Linn County Kansas Sheriff's Office and their K9 team for their assistance during this case.

Charges are officially pending at the Linn County Attorney's Office, and arrested individuals are considered innocent until proven guilty.

Sunday evening, May 21st, Pleasanton police were conducting a traffic stop when a passing vehicle nearly struck the officer. The vehicle was then pulled over coming out of Casey's for not having tag lights. During the initial investigation, the Linn County Sheriff's Office K9 was requested for assistance. The Linn County Sheriff's Officer arrived and utilized their K9 to conduct a free-air sniff of the vehicle. The Deputy on-scene advised his K9 alerted to the driver's door. A subsequent search revealed 2 baggies of white crystal substance that field tested positive for m**hamphetamine, 2 glass pipes with residue, and a loaded syringe.
