Please join us in congratulating two of our outstanding Police Cadets on their recent graduations from California State University, East Bay! ๐ŸŽ“๐Ÿ‘

Cadet Reyes graduated with a degree in Psychology and has been serving as a cadet since June 2023. She is excited to see where this next chapter leads both personally and professionally. Outside of work and school, she enjoys hiking in Yosemite National Park, spending time with family and friends, staying active through fitness, and cheering on the San Francisco Giants. ๐Ÿงกโšพ๏ธ๐Ÿ–ค

Cadet Duncan graduated with a degree in Political Science and has recently started the police academy. Duncan has been part of our PD family since 2018, starting as an Explorer and serving through 2023, where she concluded the program as an Explorer Sergeant before becoming a cadet in February 2023. Outside of law enforcement, she enjoys Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, reading, baking, swimming, and travel. ๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿฅง๐ŸŠโœˆ๏ธ

We are proud of their dedication, hard work, and commitment to serving our community. Congratulations Cadet Reyes and Cadet Duncan, we look forward to seeing all you accomplish in the future! ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿš”

As part of Mental Health Awareness Month, weโ€™re recognizing some of the many ways support and wellness show up within Pleasanton PD โ€“ including through a few very special visitors.

Emma (handler) and Callie (therapy dog) are members of the Pleasanton PDโ€™s VIPS (Volunteers In Police Service) program. They spend time with our department helping provide comfort, connection, and stress relief to staff.

Public safety work can be demanding, and small moments of calm and support can make a meaningful difference. Research shows therapy dogs can help reduce stress and anxiety, lower blood pressure, and promote overall well-being.

Weโ€™re grateful for the continued partnership and the positive impact.

Hi Pleasanton! Thank you for joining us for Cone with a Cop yesterday. As always, it was a blast continuing this fantastic tradition, and serving up thousands of ice cream cones to our amazing community members. We'd also like to give a huge shoutout to the team at Meadowlark Drive-Thru Dairy for your ongoing support year after year. ๐Ÿฆ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ Until next year!

Last week, the Special Olympics Northern California Law Enforcement Torch Run made its way through our community as members of the Pleasanton Police Department proudly carried the Flame of Hope in support of the incredible athletes of Special Olympics.

Our team received the torch from Dublin Police and passed it on to East Bay Regional Park District Police Department, continuing a meaningful tradition centered on inclusion, unity, and community support.

We are grateful to everyone who supported the cause, and helped celebrate the spirit of the Special Olympics movement. Events like these remind us of the power of community and the importance of creating opportunities where every athlete is encouraged, supported, and celebrated.

Thank you to all who participated and helped carry the message of hope forward.

Mental health and physical health are closely connected โ€“ and supporting one often means supporting the other.

As part of Mental Health Awareness Month, weโ€™re highlighting some of the ways Pleasanton PD works to support the overall wellness of our staff.

Policing, dispatching, and public safety work can be demanding, both mentally and physically. Thatโ€™s why weโ€™ve made intentional investments in spaces and resources that help employees recharge, decompress, and care for their health throughout the workday.

Inside the department, staff have access to:
โ€ข An on-site gym
โ€ข A Zen Room with comfortable recliners and a quiet space to reset
โ€ข Walking treadmills at dispatcher workstations, helping dispatch staff stay active while remaining available to answer calls and support the community

Wellness looks different for everyone, but creating a culture that supports both physical and mental wellbeing is an important part of taking care of the people who take care of our community.

Please join us in congratulating Sergeant Boccasile on graduating from the Sherman Block Supervisory Leadership Institute (SLI) Class 563! ๐ŸŽ“๐Ÿ‘

The Sherman Block SLI is a highly respected leadership program focused on developing ethical decision-making, professional growth, and effective leadership skills for law enforcement supervisors. Pleasanton PD is proud to invest in programs like SLI that strengthen leadership development and support excellence across our organization.

During the course, Sergeant Boccasile exemplified professionalism, dedication, and servant leadership. His commitment to the program and the respect he earned from fellow attendees led to him being selected as one of the class speakers at graduation...a distinguished honor that speaks to his character and leadership abilities.

Congratulations, Sergeant Boccasile, on this outstanding achievement and thank you for your continued dedication to the Pleasanton community and the police profession!

As part of Mental Health Awareness Month, weโ€™re recognizing the people and programs that help support the well-being of Pleasanton PD employees behind the scenes every day.

One of those resources is our Peer Support Team โ€“ a group of 12 employees selected by their colleagues to help foster an environment of trust, confidentiality, and support for staff navigating personal or professional challenges.

Peer Support members receive specialized training in areas such as stress management, conflict resolution, resilience, and wellness, helping ensure employees have someone they can turn to when they need support.

We also continue our longstanding partnership with the Public Safety Family Counseling Group (PSFCG), which provides Pleasanton Police staff with access to mental health resources including crisis response, stabilization services, and confidential counseling.

Public safety work can carry significant emotional and mental demands. Supporting the well-being of our employees is not only important to our department โ€“ itโ€™s essential to ensuring they can continue serving the community with professionalism, compassion, and resilience.

Weโ€™re proud to share that Pleasanton PDโ€™s Alternate Response Unit (ARU) has been named Alameda County EMS Agencyโ€™s Program of the Year ๐ŸŽ‰

๐Ÿš‘ Smarter response:
Since launching, the team has responded to thousands of calls for service, conducted hundreds of evaluations, and helped reduce reliance on ambulance transport for individuals in crisis - saving families more than $170,000 in transportation costs over the past 2.5 years.

๐Ÿ“Š By the numbers:
2023โ€“24: 1,008 calls | 212 evaluations | 82 detentions
2024โ€“25: 1,346 calls | 251 evaluations | 79 detentions
2025โ€“26 (to date): 131 evaluations | 47 detentions

๐Ÿค The teamโ€™s ARUโ€™s work in our schools is also making a difference. Over the past three school years, the percentage of student evaluations resulting in psychiatric holds has steadily decreased:
2023โ€“24: 39.5%
2024โ€“25: 27.9%
2025โ€“26: 20.0%

This trend reflects the impact of earlier intervention, stronger coordination with school and mental health partners, and increased support for students before situations escalate to the point of hospitalization.

Congrats to our team of sworn officers and clinicians on this well-deserved honor.
