🏅 Another proud day for Pleasantville athletics! 💚

On June 9, Pleasantville High School celebrated two outstanding student-athletes as they officially committed to continue their athletic and academic careers at the collegiate level.

As Athletic Director Dan Iorio often reminds students, only a small percentage of high school athletes go on to compete at the college level, making this accomplishment especially meaningful.

Congratulations to:

🏈 Hawkeye Clampitt, Football – College of Wooster

🏑 Maya Fortier, Field Hockey – Montclair State University

Surrounded by family, friends, coaches, teammates, and teachers, Hawkeye and Maya were recognized for the hard work, perseverance, and dedication that helped them reach this milestone.

Congratulations, Panthers! We are proud of all you have accomplished and look forward to cheering you on in this exciting next chapter.

The world came to Pleasantville Middle School as fifth graders celebrated the annual tradition of Western Hemisphere Day.

Students spent the day “traveling” to six countries: Brazil, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Argentina, Canada, and the United States. Each classroom was transformed into an immersive cultural experience where students explored traditions, participated in hands-on activities, sampled foods, and learned about the people and cultures that make each country unique.

Along the way, students created colorful ox decorations inspired by Brazil’s Festival do Boi-Bumbá, stamped leather keychains in Argentina, tested their knowledge with trivia games in Canada, learned traditional dances in the Dominican Republic, created American flags in the United States, and played Lotería in Mexico. They also enjoyed treats from across the hemisphere, including brigadeiros, a popular Brazilian dessert.

The event is a longtime favorite at PMS and would not be possible without the creativity and dedication of teachers, staff, and the many parent volunteers who helped bring each destination to life.

The excitement surrounding the tradition extends beyond fifth grade. In the days leading up to the event, sixth graders could be overheard talking about their own upcoming Eastern Hemisphere Day, which takes place this week. It is one of many examples of how these experiences become lasting memories for students as they move through middle school.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this memorable day of learning, exploration, and global discovery possible.

Millions of years of history came to life at BRS last week! 🦖
Thanks to a PTA-sponsored "Dinosaurs Rock" assembly, students explored real fossil casts, learned about paleontology and prehistoric life, and even took home two real fossils of their own. A fun and memorable STEAM experience for the entire school!

For decades, the eighth-grade trip to Washington, D.C. has been a cherished Pleasantville Middle School tradition, and this year's students made the most of every moment.

From exploring iconic monuments, memorials, museums, and historic landmarks to deepening their understanding of our nation’s history and government, students experienced lessons that simply can't be replicated in a classroom.

Of course, the trip also included time to build memories with classmates and chaperones, including some well-earned fun at the arcade after a busy day of learning and sightseeing.

Thank you to the teachers, staff, and chaperones who help make this memorable experience possible year after year.

A proud night for Pleasantville. 💚🐾

Last night, Pleasantville High School Valedictorian Sara Agabob and Salutatorian Clara Shingler were recognized at the Lower Hudson Council of School Superintendents (LHCOSS) annual scholarship dinner alongside the top graduating students from 78 school districts across the region.

Joined by Interim Superintendent Dr. Eric Lutinski, Board of Education President Michael Busch, and Principal Joe Palumbo, Sara and Clara represented Pleasantville with the same intelligence, character, and dedication that have defined their high school careers.

Congratulations to two outstanding students and ambassadors for our school community. We are incredibly proud of you both!
