Our Junior Fire Fighters are a big part of our department. Big shout out to Ava Van Ness, Paul Gasparovich and Tanner Booth, and their dates, on their prom this weekend. As one cleverly said ā€œwe fight fire and we look fire!ā€ šŸ”„

Extra shout out to Pauly G who dropped his morning prom priorities to respond on a house fire (see below) but made it back ready just in time!

Even though there is no burn ban, be smart if you must burn.

You've been told 😃

We are under a RED FLAG WARNING from 10AM–7PM today.

The US National Weather Service Des Moines Iowa says strong winds + dry air = šŸ”„ things go whoosh real fast.

So no burning.
Not a brush pile.
Not ā€œjust a little one.ā€
Not because you’re bored.

Let’s all make good choices today, Marion County.

šŸš«šŸ”„Burning is not recommended today.

Any fires that start will grow and spread rapidly due to the dry, cured fuels, strong, gusty winds from the west, and very low relative humidity.

PLEASE no burning

šŸ‘‹Morning Iowa.

What is a Red Flag Warning? It means do not burn outdoors today.

Any fires that start will grow and spread rapidly due to the dry, cured fuels, strong, gusty winds from the west, and very low relative humidity.

Please be responsible and don’t burn.

Please be responsible and don’t burn.

Just don’t burn.
Don’t do it.
Don’t even think about doing it.
Don’t even think about thinking about doing it.

With current conditions across Iowa, fires can spread fast, get out of control quickly, and turn into a very long day for you — and an even longer day for your local fire departments.

That small brush pile?
That ā€œquick littleā€ ditch burn?
That ā€œit’ll be fineā€ moment?

It won’t be fine.

Let’s keep our fields, ditches, equipment, and firefighters safe. We promise your burn pile will still be there when conditions improve.

Please stay off the ice as it is unsafe.

Please stay off the ice as it is unsafe.

The pond at the park is currently being worked on. They have drained it in the process. The ice is cracked and unsteady. As fun as it may seem, do not go on the pond or ice.

Once again, always happy to assist neighboring departments.

Once again, always happy to assist neighboring departments.

At 1:57 am we were dispatched to a fully engulfed house fire. Despite the hard work and quick response of all crews, the house was a total loss.

We would like to thank Pleasantville Emergency Services, Lacona Fire Department, and Marion County - IA Sheriff's Office for assisting us. Teamwork is critical in times like these.

Our thoughts are with the homeowner during this difficult time.

Always happy to help neighbors that need the help, good job to all departments involved. The weather definitely tried to throw a curve ball at us but all the team members fought hard.

At 5:12 PM last night MDFD was paged out for a residential structure fire. The harsh winter weather, with high winds and frigid temperatures, gave us additional challenges to fight this fire. After knocking down the flames, tending to hot spots, and getting our trucks back in service, we wrapped up our day around 3:00 am this morning. Thank you to our surrounding departments, Pleasantville Emergency Services, Lacona Fire Department, Indiana Township Fire Department, Columbia Fire & Rescue , Marion County Rural Water District, and the Marion County - IA Sheriff's Office for their assistance with this call. We greatly appreciate it!
