Before the month of May is over, we have a couple more years of service anniversaries to celebrate.

Captain Ethan Meddaugh has served the Plover Fire/EMS Department for 15 years! Prior to coming to Plover, Ethan served with the Bancroft/Pine Grove Fire/EMS Department. In addition to serving our Fire and EMS programs, Captain Meddaugh also is one of the Building Inspectors for the Village of Plover.

Firefighter/EMT Amanda Lettman has been an active member of Plover Fire/EMS for 4 years. In addition to Fire and EMS, Amanda brings a ton of knowledge and skill to our team, also specializing in swift water rescue and she is also an Athletic Trainer, with a wealth of knowledge in Orthopedic injuries and prevention.

Both of these members bring so much to our department, and we are so lucky and grateful to have them.

Congratulations and Thank You to Captain Ethan Meddaugh and FF/EMT Amanda Lettman!

HEAT CAN TURN DEADLY FAST!

As temperatures rise this summer, remember: a vehicle can heat up dangerously in just minutes - even with the windows cracked.

❌ NEVER leave children or pets unattended in a vehicle.
👀 Make it a habit to LOOK BEFORE YOU LOCK.
📱 If you see a child or pet alone in a hot vehicle, call 911 immediately.

On an 80° day, the temperature inside a car can reach over 120° in less than an hour. A simple check can save a life. ❤️

Heat exhaustion and heat stroke can happen to ANYONE - and they can become dangerous very quickly.

Athletes, outdoor workers, children, older adults, and even healthy individuals are all at risk during extreme heat. Whether you’re practicing sports, exercising, mowing the lawn, or working outside, it’s important to recognize when your body is struggling with the heat.

Take frequent breaks, stay hydrated, and don’t ignore warning signs. Looking out for yourself and others can save a life.

If someone is showing signs of heat stroke, call 911 immediately!

☀️ Extreme heat can impact anyone — whether you’re working outside, spending time outdoors, driving, or staying at home.

As we head into June and temperatures climb, remember these important heat safety tips:

💧 Stay hydrated
🧢 Take breaks in the shade or air conditioning
👵 Check on elderly neighbors, family members, and those without AC
🚗 Never leave children or pets unattended in a vehicle
🐶 Limit strenuous outdoor activity during peak heat hours

Heat-related illnesses and deaths are preventable. A few simple precautions can help keep you and your loved ones safe this summer.

Stay cool. Stay hydrated. Stay safe. ☀️

In observance of Memorial Day, all Village offices will be closed on Monday, May 25th.

This day holds special meaning for those in public service. We pause to honor and remember the brave men and women of our military who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. Their courage and selflessness are the foundation of the freedoms we protect each day.

As we gather with family and community, we encourage everyone to take a moment to reflect and remember those who gave everything for our nation. 🇺🇸

We will never forget.

Memorial Day Weekend marks the unofficial start of summer, and for many families, that means firing up the grill!

As you gather with family and friends this holiday weekend, and throughout the summer, take a few extra moments to practice safe grilling habits to help prevent fires and injuries:

✔️ Keep grills away from homes and decks
✔️ Never leave a grill unattended
✔️ Keep children and pets a safe distance away
✔️ Clean grease buildup regularly
✔️ Always check propane tanks for leaks before use
✔️ Make sure the grill is completely cool to the touch before putting it away

Let’s make this grilling season safe, enjoyable, and fire-free for everyone!
