The PCFD would like to extend our condolences, as well as our thoughts and prayers to Durand Fire Department, and the family and friends, on the passing of one of their firefighters.♥️

With profound and heartfelt sadness, we have to announce the passing of Firefighter Chris J. Bates. Chris joined the Durand Fire Department in 2007, served as a Lieutenant and Training Officer on the department and was a current Senior Member. Chris was an amazing firefighter and US Marine Veteran. More importantly he was a brilliant husband, father and grandfather to his family. Rest easy brother, we’ll take the watch from here. Godspeed Chris Bates.

This evening PCFD was paged out to a fully engulfed house fire, in a mutual aid response by Ellsworth Fire Dept.

One of our very own firefighters, Meagan Wilson Van Beest, was flying into the Minneapolis Airport. She happened to spot the house fire, and caught this incredible video!

Talk about being in the right place, at the right time!
