A tremendous honor for Plum EMS!

Brian Maloney of Plum EMS was recently recognized with the Cribs for Kids® National Infant Safe Sleep Initiative “Starfish” Award during the organization’s National Conference.

The Starfish Award recognizes individuals who make a meaningful difference in the lives of infants and families by advancing safe sleep, child safety, and injury prevention—one family, one education opportunity, and one baby at a time.

It was an incredible honor for Brian to receive this recognition, but the award represents something much more significant than one individual. It represents what Plum EMS strives to do every day: make a difference in the lives of the people Plum EMS serves, one family at a time.

From safe sleep education and car seat safety to injury prevention and community outreach, Plum EMS's goal is not simply to respond when something goes wrong, but to help prevent emergencies from happening in the first place.

Congratulations, Brian—and thank you to everyone who helps make this work possible!

Plum EMS had an absolute blast at this year’s Plum Borough Fall Fest! It was a beautiful day, an incredible crowd, and we’re pretty sure hundreds of kids stopped by our tent to say hello and get a chance to climb aboard and explore one of our ambulances!

We loved seeing all the smiles, answering questions, showing off the truck, and giving the kids a little glimpse into what we do every day. Who knows…we may have even inspired a few future EMTs and paramedics!

A huge THANK YOU to Plum Borough for hosting such an incredible event and bringing our community together on a perfect fall day. Events like this are a great reminder of what makes Plum such a special place to live.

What an incredible day for safety!!!

Plum EMS is thrilled to announce that our annual Car Seat Safety Clinic set a brand-new record: 32 safety inspections completed and 8 free car seats distributed to local families!

A huge shoutout to the 17 volunteer Car Seat Safety Technicians who gave up their day to make a lasting impact on child safety. You are truly the heart of this day.

What a “Starry Night!”

Congratulations to Brian Turpin of Plum EMS on receiving one of just 14 Pennsylvania EMS Provider Foundation “Star of Life” Awards this year!

Even more special, Brian celebrated his 21st anniversary with Plum EMS on the very night of the awards banquet. What a way to mark more than two decades of dedication, service, and commitment to the Plum Borough community!

This award is incredibly well deserved, and we are grateful for all that Brian has done—and continues to do—for our community and the people we are honored to serve.

Plum EMS would like to extend our sincere gratitude to American Legion Post 980 of Plum Borough for hosting a beautiful and heartfelt memorial service honoring the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001.

It was a meaningful opportunity for our community to come together to remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost that day, honor the countless families forever changed, and recognize the incredible courage and sacrifice of the first responders who ran toward danger when others were running away.

Twenty-five years later, we continue to remember those who never came home, those who answered the call, and the spirit of service and sacrifice that emerged from one of our nation's darkest days.

Thank you to American Legion Post 980 for keeping their memories alive and providing our community with a place to pause, reflect, and remember.

We remember. We honor. We will never forget.

On Saturday, September 19, Plum EMS will be hosting our 5th annual Car Seat Safety Clinic with the UPMC Children's Hospital Injury Prevention Van as a special guest.

Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians will inspect your child's car seat to make sure:
✅ It’s the right seat for your child’s age, height, and weight
✅ It’s not expired or recalled
✅ It’s installed correctly
✅ Your child is properly secured

A huge thank you to the Monroeville Public Library for inviting Plum EMS to be part of their Family Resource Fair!

We had an incredible time connecting with families and sharing the importance of car seat safety and safe sleep practices for infants.

We are grateful for the opportunity to share information that can help protect the community’s youngest members and, ultimately, save lives.

What an incredible day with incredible people!

Plum EMS , together with an amazing group of instructors, had the privilege of providing CPR, AED, First Aid, and Medical Emergencies training to approximately 460 Plum Borough School District faculty, staff, and support personnel.

From early morning until the final session, instructors, EMS professionals, and school district employees came together with one shared goal: being better prepared to respond when someone needs help.

A training event of this size takes tremendous teamwork, preparation, and dedication. We are incredibly grateful to every instructor who volunteered their time and expertise, as well as the Plum Borough School District for making this important training a priority.

460 people trained. Countless potential lives impacted. One incredible team.

Thank you to everyone who made the day such a success. We are proud to be part of such an incredible community!
