Today is the day and the polls are open! Stop by your polling location between the hours of 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. to cast your ballot.

Polling locations:
- Plymouth Community Intermediate School: Precincts 1-4, 10 & 18
- West Elementary School: Precincts 5, 11 & 13
- Indian Brook Elementary School: Precincts 6, 7 & 14
- South Elementary School: Precincts 8, 9 & 17
- South Middle School: Precincts 12, 15 & 16

Out of an abundance of caution, the e-waste day event at the Plymouth Public Library has been closed early due to an influx of traffic. Traffic associated with the event backed up, causing significant issues in the surrounding areas, including blocked streets.

We sincerely appreciate everyone's patience and understanding as we work to keep the area safe and accessible. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Don't miss out on your last chance to vote early in the upcoming State Primary! Residents are encouraged to stop by Town Hall, in the 1st-floor glass atrium, to cast their votes before 12 p.m. today.

Those who don't participate in early voting will have the opportunity to cast their ballot on Tuesday, September 1, from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 pm. It is highly recommended that all voters verify their precinct and polling location before going to the polls on Election Day, as some locations have recently changed. Community members are informed that MassDOT contractors will implement a full closure of Jordan Road, in the vicinity of Route 3, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 27, to allow for the removal of temporary barriers on the old bridge deck.

Community members are advised that this closure was coordinated in close collaboration with Plymouth Public Schools. As such, school buses and other traffic commuting to and from schools should not be impacted by this closure.

Did you know that mosquito bites can make you very sick? West Nile virus (WNV) is most commonly spread to people through the bite of an infected mosquito, which can cause illness ranging from a mild fever to more serious disease.

Earlier this week, the Massachusetts Department of Public Health announced the second human case of West Nile virus (WNV) in Massachusetts this year in a man in his 60s who was exposed in Middlesex County.

As of today, the Town of Plymouth has not had any human cases of WNV this season. The Town is also currently considered low risk for both WNV and Eastern equine encephalitis (EEE) virus.

Preventing mosquito bites is the best way to prevent WNV infection. Here are some things you can do to reduce your chances of being bitten:

-Use EPA-registered mosquito repellents.
- When outdoors, wear long pants, a long-sleeved shirt, and socks to keep mosquitoes away from your skin.
- Avoid outdoor events during the hours between dusk and dawn when mosquitoes are most active.
-Keep mosquitoes out of your house by repairing any holes in your screens and making sure they are tightly attached to all your doors and windows.
- Remove areas of standing water around your home

The Town of Plymouth reports that residents of two properties on Pleasant Street have been temporarily displaced due to a malfunctioning sewer main lining.

A crew from Insituform Technologies was performing sewer main lining on Pleasant Street, between Jefferson and Robinson Streets, when a hole was found in the liner, resulting in the release of steam from the lining process into two nearby properties.

No injuries were reported as a result of this incident; however, the release of steam caused odorous conditions which made the affected properties temporarily unsuitable for occupancy. As a precaution, the Town’s contractors are arranging temporary lodging for the affected households while the necessary repairs and cleanup are completed.

While this is believed to be an isolated incident, the Town is currently assessing the extent of properties affected by this malfunction while crews work to correct the issue as quickly and safely as possible. There are no safety or air quality concerns for the Pleasant Street area and surrounding streets at this time.

Residents with questions or concerns are encouraged to contact the DPW at 508-830-4162. Any Pleasant Street resident who detects an odor inside their home or is experiencing plumbing issues should contact 9-1-1.
