🚨 **Important Update for Feline Asthma Families** 🚨

If your cat uses an inhaler such as **fluticasone (Flovent) or albuterol** and you order it from an online Canadian or international pharmacy, we want to make you aware of an upcoming change that may affect your ability to receive these medications.

Changes involving U.S. Customs and Border Protection and the FDA are scheduled to take effect **October 22, 2026**. International pharmacies are reporting that these changes may significantly restrict prescription medications being shipped into the United States.

At this time, there are still unanswered questions about exactly how these changes will be implemented and whether the October 22 date will remain in place. However, because many of our feline asthma patients rely on international pharmacies for more affordable inhalers, we don't want our clients to be caught off guard.

🐱 **If you currently order your cat's inhalers from a Canadian or other international pharmacy:**

• Check how much medication you currently have on hand.
• Contact your pharmacy to ask how this change may affect upcoming orders and what their final ordering/shipping deadline will be.
• Please allow plenty of time for prescription renewal requests.
• Do not wait until your cat is almost out of medication to investigate your options.

If your cat is due for an examination or monitoring before we can authorize additional refills, we may need to see them before renewing the prescription.

**Please do not change or discontinue your cat's asthma medications without speaking with your veterinarian.**

We will continue monitoring this situation and will share additional information as it becomes available.

More information about the upcoming change can be found here:

The myth that cats can't be trained is just that, a myth. Cats respond really well to short, positive training sessions using treats as motivation. 🐱🧡 Start with simple behaviors like sit, high five, or target touch and build from there. The secret is keeping it fun and always ending on a win! Does your cat know any tricks? 🐾

🐱 CAT LOVERS, WE NEED YOU! 🐱

Twin Cities Pet Rescue is looking for volunteers to help care for our adoptable cats staying at Petco in Eden Prairie and Highland Park!

This is the perfect volunteer opportunity if you want some hands on kitty time but aren’t able to foster in your home! ❤️

As a Store Cat Volunteer, you’ll help:

🐾 Check in on our adoptable cats
🧹 Deep clean their condos
🧸 Provide enrichment, playtime and lots of attention
📱 Share updates with our team through Slack

The best part? It’s SUPER flexible!

You can volunteer as little as once a month or as often as a couple times a week. Visits can happen whenever it works for you during store hours and typically take just 30 to 45 minutes. Of course, you’re always welcome to stay longer for some extra kitty love! 😻

All you need is access to a phone or computer with internet so you can connect with our Store Cat Team through Slack.

Help us keep our Petco kitties happy, comfortable and loved while they wait for their forever families! 🏡🐾

🐱 Those whiskers aren’t just for looks!

A cat’s whiskers are highly sensitive sensory tools that help them navigate their surroundings, detect subtle changes in air currents, judge whether they can fit through tight spaces, and sense nearby objects—even in low light.

You may have also seen wide, shallow bowls marketed as “whisker-friendly” or designed to prevent “whisker fatigue.” The idea is that some cats may dislike having their sensitive whiskers repeatedly touch the sides of a deep or narrow bowl. While “whisker fatigue” itself isn’t a well-established medical diagnosis, some cats do seem to prefer eating from a wider, shallower dish.

And one important whisker rule: never trim them! ✂️🚫 Whiskers play an important role in how cats experience and navigate the world around them.

Does your cat prefer a certain type of food or water bowl? 🐾

🦟 Fleas and ticks don’t check the calendar! 🐱

Did you know that Bravecto® Plus for Cats provides 2 months of protection against fleas and ticks with a single topical dose? It also treats and controls ear mites and helps protect against heartworm disease.

Even indoor cats can be exposed to parasites—fleas can hitch a ride inside on people or other pets, and mosquitoes certainly don’t need an invitation! 🦟

Keeping your cat on consistent parasite prevention is an easy way to help keep them comfortable and protected.

📞 Have questions about whether Bravecto Plus is appropriate for your cat? Give us a call or ask us at your next visit!

🐾 Is your cat currently on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention?
