LETTER TO PLYMOUTH VOTERS
NEHA MARKANDA ADDRESSES NONPARTISANSHIP
Plymouth businesswoman is the true for Plymouth City Council At-Large seat.
My name is Neha Markanda, and I am running to be your next Plymouth City Council At-Large council member. I moved to America when I was 7-years old with my family in pursuit of the American Dream and am now a successful businesswoman and engaged community organizer.
I want to address a question I’ve frequently been asked by many voters regarding my party affiliation. A few even continuing to wonder how it is I am not being partisan!
From the onset of my campaign which has been ongoing for numerous months, I have been passionate and steadfast about running a nonpartisan campaign based on integrity and honesty. The At-Large Plymouth City Council position is a nonpartisan office.
Nonpartisan as you know is defined as "not biased, not part of any political group.” While my opponent sought out party support, I declined any endorsement.
In fact, I have actively met with people from across the political spectrum to listen to their concerns. All because I believe in the true spirit of what this position was created for — serving the needs of ALL Plymouth citizens.
Looking at my background, where I come from, who I have helped both professionally as well as a community volunteer, I am a living representation of the best nonpartisan choice in this At-Large race.
As you prepare to vote, ask yourself these questions:
If you came to the Plymouth City Council with an issue, would it be right for the council to ask you which party you affiliate with before your issue could be addressed?
In this local race, doesn’t the community want wise use of your tax dollars regardless of your political affiliation?
How about a safe neighborhood? The snow being plowed, potholes fixed, and parks well maintained? Shouldn't all of these things be addressed fairly to everyone regardless of what party they belong to, if any?
My goal is to focus on actual issues that affect us ALL, not on divisive party politics. My hope is that you will all vote on Tuesday. Vote for what you believe is best for our city. When you vote for me, I will do my utmost best to represent YOU in a nonpartisan way and will truly listen to ALL voices.
Sincerely,
Neha Markanda
