Yesterday, our Wayzata Cte Compass Professional Studies students had the incredible opportunity to visit the newest Walser Automotive Group location, Walser Kia!

During the visit, students gained firsthand insight into the automotive retail industry and learned about Walser’s unique approach to the car-buying experience, one centered on transparency, relationships, and exceptional customer service. Seeing how Walser’s model differs from the traditional dealership experience provided valuable real-world learning and demonstrated why customer experience is at the heart of their success.

For many of our students, this was their first exposure to the automotive industry, and the experience was both engaging and memorable.

A special thank you to Katie Sammons and Campbell Walser for welcoming our students, sharing their expertise, and providing an authentic look at the Walser culture. We appreciate your partnership and investment in helping students connect classroom learning to future careers!

Learning with real-world impact! 🎨💻🎮

Students in Ms. Fox's Advanced Web Design, Advanced Graphic Design, Advanced Animation, and Advanced Game Design classes have been putting their creativity and technical skills to work on projects that extend far beyond the classroom.

This year, students:
✅ Designed digital displays for Wayzata High School's graduation ceremony at U.S. Bank Stadium.
✅ Created animations for the Hamel Baseball Hamel Hawks 100th Anniversary celebration
✅ Developed websites for local businesses and entrepreneurs
✅ Redesigned branding concepts, including the Wayzata Trojans Trojan Tribune and Wayzata Cte Super Mileage logos
✅ Produced custom stickers, screen-printed apparel, and Marching Machine (WHS Marching Band) t-shirts

Our Game Design students also earned impressive recognition in the STEM Fuse Got Game 2026 competition:
🏆 Senior Eris Smith earned 1st Place for her game Dawg & Bawl
🎖️ Junior Artem Gumirov finished in the Top 10 for his game Slippery Jumps

A special shoutout to senior Quill Stern, who designed and animated the digital displays showcased during graduation at U.S. Bank Stadium.

These projects demonstrate what happens when students combine creativity, innovation, technology, and authentic learning experiences. We are incredibly proud of the talent, dedication, and professionalism our students continue to demonstrate!

🔬🏥 Students Get Hands-On Orthopedic Surgery Experience

For the second year in a row, Wayzata High School students had the unique opportunity to step inside the world of orthopedic surgery at WestHealth Surgery Center (SCA Health) in Plymouth.

Students interested in health care careers worked alongside medical professionals, explored orthopedic surgical tools and technology, practiced suturing techniques, and gained firsthand insight into the operating room environment.

The experience was made possible through a partnership with Allina Health and orthopedic surgeon Dr. Bishoy Gad, who shared the importance of inspiring the next generation of health care professionals as the demand for doctors, nurses, physician assistants, and other medical specialists continues to grow.

For students like junior Evalyn Ngo, the visit provided valuable exposure to potential career paths and reinforced the many opportunities available within the medical field.

Experiences like these help bring classroom learning to life while connecting students with professionals who are making a difference every day. Thank you to Dr. Gad, Allina Health, and the entire WestHealth team for investing in our students and helping them explore future careers in health care!

📱 Attention Class of 2029 Families!

As the school year comes to a close, all current 9th-grade students will return their school-issued iPads during the first week of June. Students will receive a replacement iPad at Back to Business in August 2026.

Before returning your iPad:

✅ Back up important files, photos, and app data
✅ Remove any stickers or sticker residue
✅ Make sure the iPad, charging brick, and charging cable are all included
✅ Check that the device is in working condition

If your iPad is damaged, please have it repaired before the return date. Families with Akko insurance should file a claim as soon as possible. Families without insurance can pay replacement or damage fees through ePay @ https://wayzata.epaytrak.com/.

Please send the following items with your student on collection day: iPad in case, Apple-issued charging brick, and Apple-issued charging cable

Last week, students in our Cybersecurity and Applied Mathematics Wayzata Cte Compass Professional Studies program had an incredible opportunity to visit C.H. Robinson, a leader in supply chain planning and at the forefront of AI integration and human-in-the-loop design.

Highlights from the visit included:
• Gaining insight into the future of computer science and engineering, and the exciting direction these fields are heading
• Touring a server center and learning how redundancy and safeguards play a critical role in cybersecurity
• Hearing directly from professionals about the importance of soft skills in the workforce and how they help individuals stand out

Overall, it was inspiring for our students to see how AI can be used responsibly and effectively to solve real-world challenges. Experiences like this continue to connect classroom learning at Wayzata High School to meaningful, future-focused careers!

Parks’ Place celebrated WHS Students in the Class of 2026 who serve as remarkable caregivers and activity assistants.

These students participated in a graduation celebration, recognizing their achievement and sharing the moment with the residents.

Parks’ Place is one of our partner sites for the CNA course, and most of these students completed the course at WHS before joining Parks’ Place’s team.

What a great opportunity to celebrate all these students!
