On a rainy Friday, 31 Plymouth youngsters gathered in the community center for stories, poster painting, and fun. Former Tri County HS Counselor, current grandmother Betsy Spilker + her Tri County Teammate and recently graduated student Sydney Brauer facilitated an hour of stories about dragons and dinosaurs followed by poster painting. The result was a colorful poster created by Sydney painted by the kids, which tied in nicely to the books Betsy read to them. The program sponsored by the Plymouth Library was the first of several scheduled summer reading programs. Treats and drawings for prizes were enjoyed before closing the doors on a fun filled session. The next program will be held in the Plymouth community center next Friday June 5 at 10:00 am. Game Warden and former TC Trojan Travis Shepler will bring books and items related to animals living Underground . Join us!

"Unearth a Story", Our Plymouth Library summer reading theme is indeed unique, creative, but also quite fun. Our guest reader, Mandy Smidt, Educational Diagnostician from ESU 5 read, explained, sang, wiggled, and delivered a creative program about WORMS! A wonderful turnout of Plymouth Littles were enthralled! Mandy taught them about the life and habitat of worms before each of them created their own layered cup- we think the bedrock was butterscotch, with Oreo dirt and of course gummi worms, and oh yes some chocolate pudding in there too. YUM! Never has learning tasted so good! Thanks Mandy for this lesson and making reading so much FUN!

Author and Friend Gene Steinmeyer was the guest speaker at the Plymouth Library on Saturday May 9. He shared information about his recent book, "The First Olympian", the story about Swanton native Willard Schmidt, who played on America's gold medal winning Olympic basketball team in 1936. The fascinating look at a local hero that many folks know little about. Gene has written several books about stories and people from this area of Southeast Nebraska. He answered questions and signed books for the program attendees. Thanks Gene!
