PDC Like Page
This like page is for anyone interested in the activities and communications of the Plymouth Democratic Club. This is a public page. That means that anyone can see what has been posted. Only group members can post and all posts require moderator approval before posting. Please follow these guidelines when posting in this group. Any posts not following these guidelines will not be app

roved and/or may be removed.

- Stay on topic. This group is for sharing information that aligns with our stated mission and associated goals and ideals. Please only share and post items that relate to the Democratic platform.

- Limit the length of your post. General guideline: Keep posts to under 150 words. If you have a lot more than that to say, consider linking your own blog or public posts on your personal page.

- Limit the frequency of your posts. While we encourage broad participation from everyone, please be aware that it is possible to post too often. Remember, this isn’t Twitter, so please don’t commandeer our group/page.

- When posting a link, include a comment about the content. If you share a link, tell everyone why they should read it. This helps people decide whether or not that link is useful for them, and also helps if someone is searching for that content later.

- Please hashtag your post when possible. Hashtagging makes it a lot easier to search and see if a thread has already come up on a particular topic. It also makes it easier for members of the group to find what’s most useful to them.

- Look before you post: Has someone already posted this in the group? Before posting, check to see if someone else has already posted the same thing (try the "Search this Group" field; it's quick and easy!)

- Fact check. If you're posting a news item, either link to a reputable source or cite your personal source. And if it's a parody or satire article, e.g., The Onion or an opinion piece, be sure to specify that in your post.

- Make calls to action clear. If you're calling on the group to attend an event, make calls, otherwise DO something, make the requested action clear in the text of your post.

- Keep it civil. There are certainly plenty of things to get passionate about, but let's keep it civil. No obscenities, profanities, explicit content, illegal activities, or any language that is derogatory towards others. If you're wondering if your post, comment, or language is "civil," it's probably best not to post it. Please also note that we abide by Facebook’s Community Standards, which you may review here: https://www.facebook.com/communitystandards

Here is some advice on getting by in these times from Bernice King, daughter of Martin Luther and Coretta Scott King. I really like the last paragraph, so please read it all.

Some Wise Advice Circulating:
1. Don’t use his name; EVER (45 will do)
2. Remember this is a regime and he’s not acting alone;
3. Do not argue with those who support him–it doesn’t work;
4. Focus on his policies, not his orange-ness and mental state;
5. Keep your message positive; they want the country to be angry and fearful because this is the soil from which their darkest policies will grow;
6. No more helpless/hopeless talk;
7. Support artists and the arts;
8. Be careful not to spread fake news. Check it;
9. Take care of yourselves; and
10. Resist!

Keep demonstrations peaceful. In the words of John Lennon, “When it gets down to having to use violence, then you are playing the system’s game. The establishment will irritate you – pull your beard, flick your face – to make you fight! Because once they’ve got you violent, then they know how to handle you. The only thing they don’t know how to handle is non-violence and humor.”

When you post or talk about him, don’t assign his actions to him, assign them to “The Republican Administration,” or “The Republicans.” This will have several effects: the Republican legislators will either have to take responsibility for their association with him or stand up for what some of them don’t like; he will not get the focus of attention he craves; Republican representatives will become very concerned about their re-elections.

These proposals are voter suppression, pure and simple. How many people do you know who changed their name upon marriage or for any other reason where the name on their birth certificate no longer matches their name on their driver's license?

The Arbor Hills Landfill at Six Mile Road and Napier Road is again seeking to expand to a 730-acre parcel across Six Mile Road, and local residents are preparing to mobilize against the move. The Conservancy Initiative, a local grassroots organization that arose during an earlier expansion plan, is hosting an informational meeting on dump owner GFL's proposed expansion set for Monday, Jan. 12, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Northville High School auditorium, 45700 Six Mile Road, Northville Township. Local and state elected officials will join initiative members and representatives of environmental organizations to discuss the expansion plan, the approval process and its avenues for public involvement, and their concerns over what is proposed.

If you are disgusted by Arbor Hills’ air and water pollution, garbage-truck congestion, and repeated violations of federal and state solid waste regulations, you should plan to attend the meeting to see how you can get involved. More information at https://conservancyinitiative.org .

The Conservancy Initiative or Stop Arbor Hills is a group of citizens organized to stop expansion of Advanved Disposal's Arbor Hills Landfill in Northville Michgan. This site provides the latest information related to environmental compliance at the landfill.

In case you are not aware, Mike Duggan has gone full MAGA! His campaign is financed by right-wing Republicans and dark money. He is NOT an independent and is not a moderate!

The Detroit mayor’s donations raise big questions about his political realignment as he runs for governor as an independent

NEW: Signature gatherers for the 2 voter suppression petitions have been spotted outside Secretary of State offices and on college campuses telling people that the petition will require Voter ID.

FACT CHECK: Michigan already has a constitutional voter ID requirement. That's why you are asked to show ID when you go vote.

What these petitions will actually do is create more unnecessary bureaucracy and government red tape that will block eligible citizens from voting.

DECLINE TO SIGN any petition that mentions Voter ID or Citizen Voting!!
