Tackling some spring cleaning or painting this weekend?

Oil-soaked rags can start a fire if not handled safely. As oil-based paints and stains dry, they give off heat. If rags are piled up or put in a closed container, that heat can build up and start a fire.

Stay safe:
• Lay rags flat to dry outside, away from anything that can burn
• Or place them in a metal container with a tight-fitting lid

Congratulations A-EMT Biggs!

Let's keep the post rolling!!! As we continue to celebrate EMS Week 2026, one of today's winners of our daily drawing is....DeAnna Biggs!! DeAnna, you are on a roll this week!! Everyone meet DeAnna and help me congratulate her on her win....way to go!!

Hi, My name is DeAnna.

I have been in EMS going on 9 years, most of which has been with Washington-Tyrrell EMS. Outside of work I am wife and mother of 4. I love to spend time with my family, reading, cooking, and a good antique or thrift store. When I think of this year's theme "Improving Outcomes, Together" and what it means to me I think about how it recognizes that EMS in never just about one person — it is about team work between first responders, working together toward the same goal: providing the best possible care for our patients. To me, this embodies what EMS truly about -- trust , communication, and supporting one another to make a difference when people need us the most.

Congratulations Paramedic Hardison!

We are a little late on one of the winners from Monday, but there is not time like the present! The part time winner from Monday was Bruce Hardison! Everyone meet Bruce and help me congratulate him on being Monday's spotlight Paramedic! Got to love the picture....lol!

Hello, my name is Bruce Hardison, and happy EMS Week.
I started my career in EMS in 2012 when I enrolled in an EMT class and began working with Washington County EMS as an EMT. From there, I continued my education and earned my paramedic certification. I have now been a paramedic for 11 years, and I truly believe this profession is my calling. People enter this career for many different reasons, but my reason has always been to help others. We show up on what is often someone’s worst day and do whatever we can to make it better. We work together as a team to serve our community with compassion, professionalism, and dedication. My colleagues have become more than just co-workers, they are family and lifelong friends. I have had the privilege of working alongside some of the most compassionate, dedicated, and professional individuals, who from time to time can also be a little mischievous. Together, we strive toward one common goal: “Improving outcomes together.” And it is only together that this goal can truly be achieved.
