A few weeks ago, I was in a bank and saw a veteran with his Vietnam jacket on

So I stopped him to say thank you for your service. He reached in his pocket and gave me this and then walked away without saying a word.

Just a silent gesture of thanks for me saying thank you to him.

So whoever that was out there, thank you again 🇺🇸 ❤️

Please join USA Hockey for the 2026 Salute to Service Appreciation Nights hosted at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth on Friday, March 20 & Saturday, March 21.

USA Hockey is very proud and excited to extend a warm welcome to all Michigan service members, veterans from all eras, and first responders and law enforcement, along with their families, to join us for a complimentary night of camaraderie, appreciation, honor, and tons of family fun.

Appreciation nights feature a large veteran resource fair, sponsor promotions and giveaways, Team USA vs Waterloo hockey game tickets, delicious food and hospitality, engaging family activities (crafts, giveaways, facepainting & more), special guests and more – all at no cost to our heroes!

Who out there loves hockey!?!?

There are a few dates left at USA Hockey to be the Veteran of the Game!

OR...if you would like to nominate a veteran family member who has passed you can honor them as well.

You get free tickets to the game and a USA swag bag with a $50 Kroger gift card, a $20 concessions voucher from the Plymouth Township Veterans Commission, and some great USA Hockey gear. You are on the bench with the coaches for the National Anthem and your bio is read while your pic is on the big screen.

Here’s a great article about our favorite local movie company and a fantastic film featuring many of our World War II local heroes!

Be sure to tune in for the movie on PBS. It’s being shown tomorrow night and a couple more times over the weekend so check the PBS website for times.

On Friday, Jan. 30, at 8 p.m., Detroit PBS will premiere a new documentary by Bending River Films in Wixom that pays tribute to America’s World War II veterans.
