I hope you’re enjoying the day off of school! Just a quick update that our first PTA meeting will be Tuesday, September 22nd (in person and remote options available). We have quite a bit of information to share about this upcoming school year and the projects we are hoping to accomplish, so the more support, the better! ☺️

We hope your children’s first few days Indian Brook Elementary School went well!
We are gearing up for the start of all the fun activities that will happen throughout the school year.
First up is our Scholastic Book Fair which will take place September 8-10 during school and at our open houses. We could use some help ensuring that it is run smoothly. Please review the signup and if you can, we would love to have you join us (not all classrooms are signed up yet and some of the teacher times may change so we will update it as these changes occur).

Welcome back, Indian Brook staff and families!

Our staff has been working hard all week to get everything ready to welcome our students, and we’re so excited for the start of another school year!

Over the summer, we celebrated a few exciting updates as we get ready to kick off our 50th year! 🎉 We had our new 50th anniversary sign installed, gave our front entrance a fresh coat of bright green paint, and made sure to spoil our amazing staff this week with a fully stocked lounge, some start-of-the-year supplies, and a gift card of their choice to one of their favorite local establishments.

And to top it all off, joined us today with a pop-up soda bar which was amazing! 🥤💚We’re kicking off our 50th year with a BANG, and we couldn’t be more excited for what’s ahead!

Wishing all of our Indian Brook kiddos a wonderful first day tomorrow! We can’t wait to see you! 🍎📚💚

Happy Wednesday!!

Class lists should be released late tomorrow (Thursday). You will begin to see posts on the IBES Families page listing a teacher’s name so parents can start to see who else is in their child’s classroom. The below paragraph has been shared on social media and is a great reminder on how we should use caution when making any public posts regarding our incredible educators at Indian Brook.

Quick back-to-school reminder: When you receive your child's teacher assignment, be kind and remember that social media spreads far and wide. Even the simple question of "Does anyone know anything about Mr/s. So-and-so?" can lead to a firestorm of opinions that may not all be positive.
Remember, someone else's experience won't necessarily be yours. Teachers come in all different packages and personalities, just like all parents and students. I'm sure you wouldn't want the teachers asking all our cyber friends what they know about your child as a student or you as a parent, and using those opinions to determine how the year will go. Extend the same courtesy to your child's teacher, get to know him/her, ask questions, and give him/her a chance. You may find that the teacher you heard was _____ is exactly what your child needs.

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of one of our most dedicated Indian Brook PTA members and friends, Derek.
Derek was a cornerstone of our school community and simply didn't have the word "no" in his vocabulary. Whether he was showing up early to handle heavy lifting and event setup, going the extra mile at every PTA initiative, or spending his time weekly picking up food from the local pantry for kids in need, Derek’s generosity knew no bounds. Above all, he was an incredible dad and a wonderful husband.
We will miss his selfless spirit, his unwavering support, and his constant smile deeply.
