"The 2026–27 school year is almost here, and I could not be more excited to begin this journey together!

We kicked off the new school year on Wednesday morning with our annual All Staff Back-to-School event, full of energy for the year ahead. As we prepare to open our doors to students, I am excited to share a short video introducing myself and my vision for the upcoming year and beyond!

I’m honored to be part of this community and look forward to getting to know you and making connections throughout the year. Please say hello when you see me out and about. I’m looking forward to the conversations and experiences that will make this year so special.

This morning, we hosted staff for our annual back-to-school event! The energy and excitement were through the roof as we prepared for the new school year.

Staff heard from Superintendent, Dr. Robb Virgin, and also had an amazing keynote from Dr. Luis F. Cruz. Finally, we had the privilege of honoring staff who have served for 20, 25, 30, and 35 years! We can't wait for the new year!

The Inside Wayzata Podcast is back for the new year! On our first episode, we're talking back-to-school at Wayzata High School.

Associate Principal Tyler Shepard shared how the first day is tailored specifically for 9th-grade students, creating an orientation that is both informative and fun. With the school staff rallying around this new class, they aim to give students a VIP experience.

"We picture three hundred plus staff members there to support just our incoming ninth-grade class. It's a pretty neat feeling and we can really showcase that energy."

On the first day, 9th-graders have the building to themselves, giving them space to navigate their new environment without the pressure of older classmates around. This approach helps 9th-grade students feel more at ease as they explore their new school.
