Plymouth Borough was incorporated on April 23, 1866 and covers 1.1 square miles. It is situated on the west side of the Susquehanna River in the Wyoming Valley of Northeastern Pennsylvania. With a current population of approximately 5,792 residents, Plymouth Borough is a member of the Wyoming Valley West School District and is home to the Wyoming Valley West High School.

Full-Time Public Works Laborer

This is a non-uniform union position covered under the borough's collective bargaining agreement.

This role involves general municipal maintenance, infrastructure repairs, outdoor labor, and equipment operation throughout the borough.

βœ” Must be 18 years of age and possess a valid driver license (CDL encouraged).

βœ” Must have the ability to lift 50+ lbs. and perform other physically demanding tasks outdoors.

βœ” On-call position with a regular schedule.

βœ” Preferred qualities are a timely, reliable, self-motivated, and hardworking individual that works well with a team, vendors, the public and public officials.

Key responsibilities include:

- Perform routine road maintenance, pothole patching, line painting, and street repairs.

- Assist with seasonal duties; snow plowing, salting, leaf pickup, tree trimming, and lawn care.

- Maintain borough parks, public grounds, and municipal facilities – including refuse bins, and storm drains.

- Operate basic public works vehicles, power tools and maintenance equipment.

- Perform heavy manual labor in varying weather conditions.

- Additional duties as assigned.

The current power outage has been caused by a gas leak caused by the water company performing work on Main St and Turner St. UGI has cut the power in town until they can cap the line. Power will return once that is completed. Plymouth Fire Department and Police Department are on site.

🚧 ROAD CLOSURE NOTICE 🚧

Bridge Street, from E. Main Street to Beade Street, will be closed for 15 days beginning August 18, 2026.

The closure is necessary to allow a crane to be positioned in the area while work is performed on the smokestack at the former Acme Metal Products building.

Motorists should avoid the area and use alternate routes for the duration of the closure.
