As a reminder, the boil order for Crystal Springs remains in effect.

Due to guidance form NH State Health & Human Services, it is recommended a boil advisory remains in place as the spring is not regularly tested for oddities, or actively monitored for bacteria or parasites such as Giardia and so forth. As this water source is natural, it is not treated and regulated, and we can not control what is exposed to the water.

We take water samples to the NH Water Analysis Laboratory on a quarterly basis, and those results are posted on the Town of Plymouth, NH website and here. The next sample is due to be tested in October. Thank you.

An update from the USFS on the Rattlesnake Mtn fire.

The Rattlesnake Fire, first reported Friday, has grown to roughly 18 acres. A Type 4 Incident Commander is overseeing operations, and crews are working in steep, challenging terrain using both direct and indirect suppression tactics.

Twenty personnel from the White Mountain National Forest, Green Mountain & Finger Lakes National Forests, and the State of New Hampshire are assigned today. The fire is expected to stay active for several days, though incoming rain early Monday could help slow its spread.

All Buffalo Road trailhead closures in Rumney continue to be in effect.

We have received a few calls today regarding the smoke/fire on Rattlesnake Mountain. Please see the attached from the US Forest Service as this is their jurisdiction and are overseeing the operation. Thank you.

Rattlesnake Fire Update – Pemigewasset Ranger District

Firefighters are continuing work today on the Rattlesnake Fire near Rumney, NH. The wildfire is creeping along the forest floor with occasional 1‑foot flame lengths during wind gusts. Some areas are too steep to access, so crews are using an indirect strategy in those sections and going direct where it is safe to do so.

The fire is about 40% contained, and there are 16 personnel from the U.S. Forest Service and the State of New Hampshire working on the fireline to strengthen control lines and limit further spread.

A big shout out to the local fire departments that responded yesterday. Their quick response and coordination with incoming wildland resources provided important support at the start of the incident.

Trailhead closures along Buffalo Road that access the Rumney climbing areas and Rattlesnake Mountain remain in place for public and firefighter safety. We’ll continue to share updates as conditions change.

The Lakes Region Mutual Fire Aid Association Training Division is excited to host Technical Large Animal Emergency Rescue (TLAER™) training this September.

This three-day program provides emergency responders with classroom instruction and realistic, hands-on training designed to build the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to safely respond to large animal emergencies.

For only the 2nd time in its history, the Red Cross has declared a national blood crisis. Patients may already be impacted. Blood donations have fallen to a 4-year summer low. Donors, especially those with type O blood, are needed ASAP to help save lives.

Last night Plymouth Fire Rescue held a Welcome/Swearing-In ceremony where family, friends and Father Dollard helped us mark this important time in our department's history. Thanks to the efforts of our department members, Plymouth Select Board, and our community, we were able to accept a grant enabling us to bring our roster to 4 personnel per shift; 24/7 coverage. Firefighters Warnick and Haines were pinned, marking successful completion of a year's probation, and six newly hired firefighters were welcomed.
