On March 11th, we’re asking for your support on Article 6 at Town Meeting.

Article 6 would approve the purchase of land at 291 & 295 Main Street for a new Public Safety Building — giving our police and fire departments a modern facility with room to grow, improved access to major roadways, and lower long-term infrastructure costs.

This site keeps emergency response out of the school zone, returns current station properties to the tax roll, and positions our town for the future.

Please join us on March 11th and vote YES on Article 6 to support safe, smart planning for our community.

This afternoon, the station was nearly empty as Engine 2, Tower 1, Car 2, and Ambulance 2 responded to simultaneous calls occurring in town. On-duty members, with assistance from off-duty personnel, handled a reported chimney fire and a motor vehicle accident that occurred just minutes apart. At the same time, Ambulance 1 was committed to an EMS detail, where the crew handled multiple incidents.

Today, the members of D Shift completed their third and fourth calls before noon, which happened to occur simultaneously. It’s important to recognize that overlapping calls are not uncommon. As you may have heard, the SAFER grant, if approved by vote at the Town Meeting on March 11th, will increase our staffing levels to four members per shift. Among other benefits, this increase will enable our full-time staff to effectively manage two simultaneous EMS calls, ensuring a higher level of service and safety for our community. Your support on this matter is crucial!

What’s Up With The Cars?

We've been getting quite a few questions about the cars in front of the station, and we wanted to clear things up! No accidents here—it's all part of some training we’re doing. We’re really lucky to have several cars donated to practice with our new Res-Q-Jack vehicle stabilization equipment. This new equipment will help our team quickly stabilize and even lift vehicles involved in motor vehicle accidents, making it safer to extricate anyone inside the vehicle. Plymouth Professional Firefighters thanks you for your curiosity and support!

Plymouth Fire Department Awarded Federal SAFER Grant to Hire Four Firefighters

The Plymouth Professional Firefighters are excited to announce that the Town of Plymouth has been awarded a federal Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) grant from FEMA. This significant grant will allow for the hiring of four new firefighters, which translates to one additional firefighter per shift.

The SAFER grant is highly competitive, with only 207 communities nationwide receiving it this cycle. Notably, Plymouth is the sole town in New Hampshire to be awarded funds specifically for the hiring of new firefighters. The SAFER grant will cover a portion of salaries and benefits for these four new firefighters, with a total grant award of $787,944.

This grant is a meaningful investment in public safety. Having four firefighters on each shift aligns our department with nationally recognized standards, enhances operational effectiveness during emergencies, and enables crews to carry out crucial tasks with greater efficiency. The increase to four firefighters leads to quicker victim rescues, improved fire control, and safer working conditions for all firefighters. Moreover, maintaining this staffing level allows the department to have both ambulances staffed in the event of simultaneous calls, which occurred 423 times last year.

The Plymouth Selectboard approved the acceptance of the SAFER Grant on October 14, 2025, however, the final approval will be presented as a warrant article during the Town Meeting scheduled for March 11, 2026. We encourage everyone to support the Plymouth Fire Department and the Plymouth Professional Firefighters by voting in favor of the warrant article at Town Meeting. We would like to express our gratitude to the Selectboard and Town Manager for their support.
