what a great way to spend an afternoon last week at the 139th Annual Meeting of the Cape Cod Cranberry Growers’ Association! πŸ‚

It was a great opportunity to celebrate the hardworking cranberry growers who help sustain our local communities and to connect directly with the people dedicated to preserving this agricultural tradition in Massachusetts.

I also appreciated the chance to learn more about the issues facing cranberry growers, the work being done to support the industry, and what we can do to help ensure cranberry farming remains an important part of our region for generations to come.

Thank you to the Cape Cod Cranberry Growers’ Association for bringing everyone together and for all you do to support our growers and agricultural community! πŸ’™

International Overdose Awareness Day! πŸ’œ

Today, we remember the lives lost to overdose, stand with those in recovery, and recognize the families and communities who continue to be impacted by the opioid and substance use crisis.

International Overdose Awareness Day is also an important opportunity to reduce the stigma surrounding substance use and overdose deaths. Stigma can be a major barrier to people seeking life-saving treatment and support. No one should be afraid to ask for help.

Whether or not you have personally experienced the loss of a loved one, chances are you know someone who has been affected. We all have a role to play.

πŸ’œ Wear purple to show compassion, awareness, and remembrance.
πŸ’œ Educate yourself and others about overdose prevention and the resources available.
πŸ’œ Support access to naloxone, treatment, and recovery services.
πŸ’œ Talk openly and compassionately about substance use and recovery.
πŸ’œ Remember those we have lost and support the families and friends left behind.

Today and every day, let’s replace stigma with compassion and continue working toward a Commonwealth where people can access the help they need before it’s too late.

Remember. Educate. Support. Advocate.

I was so sorry that I could not be there to celebrate Captain Montgomery β€œMonty” Gray and his incredible 40 years of service to the Plymouth Fire Department and our community, but I was grateful that State Rep. Kathy LaNatra was able to be there and represent us.

Forty years of serving others, answering the call when our community needed you, and helping keep Plymouth safe is an incredible accomplishment. It represents decades of dedication, sacrifice, and commitment to the people of Plymouth.

Congratulations, Captain Gray, on this incredible milestone, and thank you for 40 years of service to our community. Plymouth is better and safer because of your commitment and the work you have done over four decades. πŸš’πŸ’™

Last month, the House took an important step toward restoring health care access for Norwood and surrounding communities by passing H.5553. The emergency legislation creates a path for the Commonwealth to acquire the former Norwood Hospital property and transfer it to a qualified nonprofit operator.

After years without this critical health care resource, this legislation is critical to bring a hospital back to the community.

πŸŽ’πŸŽ Happy First Day of School! πŸŽπŸŽ’

To all of our students, educators, staff, and families heading back to school, I hope you have an amazing first day and a wonderful year ahead!

As a former School Committee member for 13 years, I know how much work and preparation goes into getting ready for a new school year. Thank you to our incredible teachers, administrators, paraprofessionals, bus drivers, cafeteria staff, custodians, and everyone else who works so hard to make sure our students have the support they need to learn and grow.

To our students: Always be curious, work hard, try new things, be kind to one another, and remember that it is okay to ask for help along the way. I cannot wait to see all that you accomplish this year!

Wishing everyone a safe, successful, and happy school year! πŸ’™πŸ“šβœοΈ

Have a great first day, Plymouth!

Another amazing Opening Day ceremony for the Plymouth Public Schools! Each year is different, but each year it seems to say exactly what needs to be said. This year’s theme, β€œIt Takes All of Us,” could not be more fitting. It truly takes all of usβ€”teachers, paraprofessionals, staff, administrators, volunteers, families, and our entire communityβ€”to support our schools, give our students the opportunity to thrive, and the resources that our teachers and staff need to be successful. No one does anything alone, and we all have a role to play in supporting our schools and the incredible people who make them so special. Wishing all of our students, educators, staff, and families a happy, healthy, and fun school year!

I hope the first-day jitters do not keep you up tonight and that everyone gets plenty of rest before starting the school year tomorrow! Wishing all of our students, teachers, staff, and families a wonderful first day! πŸ“šπŸ’™
