With my last meeting behind me last evening, and with my term officially ending on the 20th, this is a final post to again say, as I cannot say enough, "thank you."

Hats off to the voters here, and the dedicated poll workers! Results in not long after midnight, and great outcomes: overwhelming passage of the public safety millage renewal; reelection of the five incumbents to the Board of Trustees; election of two newbies who promise to continue the 'turnaround' begun four years ago. It'll be gratifying to pass the baton at the end of my final meeting on Nov. 10. Thank you, Plymouth Township, for the opportunity to have served.

This great Plymouth community has an opportunity to help a local organization that does so much good and is in need of our support due to circumstances. Please consider a donation and spreading the word so that others might help as well. Thank you, people of Plymouth.

I could not be prouder to serve on this Board than during this week. Tuesday night it listened to two hours of public comment on the sidewalk repair program from residents who did not like how the program was going down. No one had a time limit imposed, that I recall. Then, after a positive and pithy discussion, the Board unanimously voted to table the matter. The drama came in the public's input, which was moving (hardship stories) and so inspiring (supporting good sidewalks for our community, but questioning this way to do it). No drama among the seven elected members, no name-calling, no put-downs.

I was prepared for various alternatives to be offered, or to offer, but it wasn't at all necessary. You might want to watch the video on the Township webpage if you didn't watch live. It was marvelous, despite limitations imposed from up the government chain arising from the pandemic. Grassroots democracy in action, again, here in this great community.

This township is very blessed by its trees and natural beauty. But it used to be more so. Stately elms were ravaged by a foreign pest; so, too, ashes. Vestiges of farmland recall our agrarian past. Today’s quarantine proves that too little forethought can lead to despoilment. This half-century anniversary of Earth Day calls us to think, and to act, as stewards for tomorrow and forthcoming anniversaries. Will the children and grandchildren thank us for planting now so they will have a more verdant future?

Happy 4th of July to everyone in Plymouth Township and the Plymouth community! Being out of town, I'll be missing the great community parade -- hope everyone has a safe and wonderful day on the 243rd anniversary of our country's birth! And let us not forget those who are grieving today because of loss, whether from service to country or in personal ways not widely known.

The decision on whether to increase the level of emergency transport by Township EMS personnel is a very serious issue of health and safety, perhaps the most serious one a local board can face. It is incumbent on this Trustee to make a decision that is data/fact based and as objective as possible. I'm studying the matter and the materials submitted in connection with the existing and potential provisioning of emergency service. At the earliest, this would come back at the June 4 study session (there are no more meetings in May) though the indication is that it will not be on that agenda.

Private investment in a precious historic property under strict "gold standard" preservation requirements = a restored Phoenix Mill that will, as it did for the Arsenal of Democracy, contribute to jobs, quality of life, the environment, and immense public benefits.

Keeping faith with the voters, who deserve the commendations, your Board of Trustees tonight dedicated $1.2M of the new millage to the Township OPEB Trust Fund as a key 2019 step in the Corrective Action Plan required by Act 202. The vote was a unanimous 7-0.
