If anyone in the big hill pond community that doesn’t have water needs any, we have a limited number of cases available at the fire dept. You can contact 731-439-0896 and we can meet you at the department to get you some drinking water.

All the fire departments in the county need help. We’ve heard all the excuses. I can’t commit to (fill in the blank), I’m not always available, I’m too young/old, I don’t know anything about it. They are just excuses. We are all volunteers. We can when we can and we can’t when we can’t.

This is an incredible job you get paid for in ways that aren’t money. If you’ve ever thought about it, contact the VFD in your area. The hardest part, is walking through that station door the first time.

We all live in the communities we serve. How can you make a difference?

Vanessa K Free training this Thursday night at Big Hill Pond FD. Class begins at 630. This is a district 3 training and all are highly encouraged to attend. We have room for a few more that may need their certification in the county as well.

Everyone be watchful of the weather tonight and tomorrow. There’s no guarantee that we will see any severe weather in our area, but the risk is high. We are prepared to assist anybody that may be affected by this weather should it happen.

Let us all say a prayer and have a moment of silence today for all the families that are still grieving the loss of loved ones 20 years later, and for all of the first responders that gave it all running in to help when so many were trying to run away.
