SEICAA has been an amazing partner to HACP and our entire community. This fabulous decision will not only provide great continuity, but also another passionate leader for their agency. We are excited for the future. Congratulations Shantay Bloxham!

SEICAA has found its next leader!

SEICAA's Board of Directors has named Shantay Bloxham as its next Chief Executive Officer/Executive Director of the organization. Ms. Bloxham succeeds Debra Hemmert, who led the Agency with distinction for 19 years. Bloxham will start in her new position on December 1, 2020.

Ms. Bloxham is a native of Pocatello where she resides with her family; husband, Jake and their two children; Hunter and Pyper. Bloxham began her career with SEICAA in 2007. Throughout her tenure, she has held multiple leadership roles and has been instrumental in the incorporation and/or expansion of several programs and projects that have contributed to the overall growth and success of the Agency.

In conjunction with her work at SEICAA, she is heavily involved in the community, including serving on several other community non-profit’s Boards of Directors. Ms. Bloxham holds the distinction of being a 2018 recipient of Idaho State Journal’s “20 Under 40” award which recognizes individuals under 40 years old who’s accomplishments have positively impacted their work and community. Ms. Bloxham was also recently inducted into the National Society of Colligate Scholars and earned her degree in Liberal Arts.

Reflecting on her promotion, Bloxham says, “I am honored and excited to have been selected to lead this extraordinary organization. The strength of our unique culture comprised of innovation, opportunity, resilience and excellence, coupled with the exemplary Board of Directors and staff, has positioned us for continued growth for years to come. I accept with confidence, determination and fierce ambition for the Agency.

“Filling the ginormous shoes of my great mentor and friend, Debra Hemmert, will be no easy task. Deb’s mentorship and support, and that of my colleagues, family and friends has helped me reach this milestone in my career. I thank them and will work hard every day to reward their faith in me.”

“13 years ago, when I reported to my first day at SEICAA, I didn’t realize I would be walking into the place I was always meant to be! I have a deep-seated passion and commitment to the Promise of Community Action and the mission of this powerful network. I will carry forward the momentum with enthusiasm and integrity, while remaining intentionally focused on placing the staff and mission at the heart of everything we do to help people and change lives!”

“My goals include; working collaboratively with the staff and Board to ensure the programs and services created/administered under the organization’s umbrella are mission driven, and a firm commitment to working collectively as an Agency to continue to learn and understand of the causes and conditions of poverty in the communities, so as to remain in the best position to rise successfully with outcome focused solutions, that meet the various needs of the communities served under SEICAA’s umbrella."

Pocatello Regional Transit has put the finishing touches on a new stop at the intersection of West Day Street and North Grant Avenue.

The new stop features a bus shelter, dedicated bus parking, sidewalk renovations, and Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant ramps.

“Bus stop improvement projects like this help encourage more people to ride public transit and make for a positive experience in taking the bus,” said Skyler Beebe, Pocatello Regional Transit Director. “Senior citizen mobility is an important focus in public transportation, so with Portneuf Towers providing senior housing, this was a great opportunity.”

“The stop's shelter will provide protection from the weather for the residents and neighbors of Portneuf Towers,” said Sunny Shaw, Executive Director of Housing Alliance and Community Partnerships. “I am especially excited that the stop has ADA improvements permitting greater access by all who will use it.”

The total cost of the project was $55,250 and the new bus stop was completed at no cost to the City. Funding was provided by Housing Alliance and Community Partnerships and the Federal Transit Administration.

The project was a collaboration between the City of Pocatello, Housing Alliance & Community Partnerships, and Bannock Transportation Planning Organization.

The new stop was modeled on improvements made to the stop at East Sherman Street and North 7th Avenue that were completed in the fall of 2018.
