This is what I saw as we finished morning practice today.
Science would tell you this is a crepuscular ray.
Sunlight scattering through moisture, particles, and openings in the forest canopy.
Spiritually, someone might call it darshan.
A blessing. A moment where the veil feels thin and the sacred suddenly becomes visible.
But these are not opposing ways of seeing the world.
Science is not the denial of mystery.
Science is the language of nature.
And spirituality, at its healthiest, is simply another language trying to describe the exact same miracle.
One explains how the light travels.
The other explains what the light awakens inside the human heart.
Both are forms of reverence.
Both are attempts to stand honestly before reality.
The deeper we look, the less separation there seems to be between the measurable and the mystical.
Perhaps wisdom is not choosing one over the other.
Perhaps wisdom is learning to see the world clearly enough that science becomes spiritual and spirituality becomes scientific.
Right here. Inside a single beam of light through the trees.
