Thank You, Point Pleasant Beach

I want to take a moment to sincerely thank everyone who voted for me this year. It was a privilege to meet so many residents. Your conversations, questions, and encouragement meant a great deal to me.

I’d especially like to thank Mayor Swanson for taking the time to speak with me and offering valuable insight into canvassing and the inner workings of our community. His perspective was incredibly helpful and appreciated.

Over the past few years, I’ve been told more than once that if I simply changed the “D” after my name to an “R,” I’d be elected. While I understand the political realities behind that advice, I chose not to follow it. Doing so would have felt disingenuous to the people I was running to represent and contrary to my values. Others may have made that choice, but for me, integrity is worth more than a council seat.

I’m proud of the campaign we ran and deeply grateful to my team. First and foremost, I want to thank my wife, Georgia, her support made everything possible. I also want to thank Maggie Doucette, Cathy Sogorka, Tom Brennan, Anita Grammatico, Ellen Shannon and Anne Lightburn for their unwavering support and belief in our mission.

As of this writing, I’ve received 1,011 votes, that number means more than a tally. It represents nearly a thousand neighbors who believe in balance, transparency, and progress. I’m tremendously proud of that result and grateful for every single vote.

All of our volunteer committees do outstanding work, and I encourage every member of the community to get involved, whether by joining a committee or simply participating in its efforts. I also urge residents to be more mindful with council meetings and pay attention to how our governing body is functioning. As we navigate the ever-changing landscape of rising costs and shifting priorities, we cannot stagnate. We must evolve as a town and take an active role in shaping the narrative of who we are and what we want to become. I wish John and Kitty all the best in their term ahead.

Nursing students give so much to our community. They care for us, our parents, our neighbors. The least we can do is celebrate them right alongside every other graduate.

Ocean County College nursing students are asking to be included in their college commencement ceremony. After years of hard work and service, they deserve to walk with their classmates and be recognized for all they’ve accomplished.

In coordination with all Point Pleasant Beach Emergency departments, the Police Department is advising all residents of the strong potential for significant impacts from a developing Nor'easter this weekend. This storm is forecast to bring heavy rain, strong winds, and the potential for coastal and tidal flooding to our area.

We urge all residents to take proactive measures NOW to secure your property and prepare for hazardous conditions.

KEY PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS:

🚗 MOVE VEHICLES TO HIGHER GROUND: Residents in low-lying, flood-prone areas. Move your vehicles to safe, elevated locations before the storm begins and tides rise. Parking can be found in non-flood-prone areas, which includes the train station parking lot.

🏠 SECURE OUTDOOR ITEMS: High winds are expected. Please secure or bring in anything outdoors that could be blown away or damaged, including: Patio furniture, umbrellas, and grills
Trash cans and recycling bins
Loose toys, decorations, and garden tools

📺 MONITOR THE STORM: Stay informed! Follow local weather and news stations, as well as the Point Pleasant Beach Police Department's official pages (including this page and Everbridge alerts) for the latest updates and any potential advisories or evacuation notices.

🔌 PREPARE FOR POWER OUTAGES: Charge all cell phones and electronic devices. Have flashlights and extra batteries.

🚫 AVOID FLOODED ROADS: DO NOT attempt to drive or walk through flooded streets.

We are actively monitoring the situation and our officers will be prepared to respond to emergencies throughout the storm. Your safety is our top priority.
