The town of Point Pleasant, PA. was once known as Lower Black Eddy. Point Pleasant extends along on both sides of Tohickon Creek by the creek’s confluence with the Delaware River; the creek is the dividing line between the townships. This area was originally settled by the Lenape Indians who fished in the Delaware River. Its proximity to the river led to the development of grist mills and, during

the Revolutionary War, grain for the soldiers was ground here. Point Pleasant was also resting spot for canalmen along the Delaware Canal, and a waystation for the Doylestown-Frenchtown-NewYork stagecoach. In case you are wondering what happened, the pole snapped on River Road between bridge 1 & 2 destroyong the lines and ripping them of our house and other who are across the street. MetEd need to replace the pole and rerun the lines so PLEASE do not try and get thru the road closed signs. Let them do the work they need to do so everyone has power again as quickly as possible ~ Jeni - admin

Air quality alerts are in effect across nearly all of Pennsylvania for Thursday, July 16, as thick wildfire smoke from Ontario and Minnesota moves south across the Commonwealth. Code Red conditions are expected in many areas, meaning the air could be unhealthy for everyone, not only people with asthma or other health concerns. Residents are encouraged to limit strenuous outdoor activity, keep windows closed when possible and take extra precautions with children, older adults and anyone with heart or lung conditions. Smoke and hazy skies may linger into Friday.

A large plume of wildfire smoke is expected to move across Pennsylvania from Wednesday, July 15, into Thursday. The smoke is coming mainly from fires burning in Ontario and northern Minnesota, where extreme heat and dry conditions have helped the fires spread. Winds around a passing cold front are carrying that smoke southeast toward Pennsylvania. At first, much of it will remain high in the atmosphere, creating hazy or milky skies and possibly deeper-colored sunrises and sunsets.

Northern and northeastern Pennsylvania should notice the smoke first Wednesday afternoon, followed by central, western and southeastern parts of the state Wednesday night into Thursday morning. Forecast models show smoke concentrations increasing closer to ground level overnight, which could reduce visibility and lower air quality across much of Pennsylvania. People with asthma, lung problems or heart conditions may want to limit extended outdoor activity and keep an eye on local air-quality readings, since the thickness and exact path of the smoke can still shift.

E-bikes may look like regular bicycles, but many can travel fast enough to cause serious injuries, especially when a child does not have the judgment, balance, or road awareness to handle that speed. Letting kids ride powerful e-bikes around traffic, through neighborhoods, or without helmets and supervision can put them, pedestrians, and drivers at risk. Parents should not treat an e-bike like an ordinary toy. Before allowing a child to ride one, they should consider the bike’s speed, the child’s age and maturity, local rules, and whether they have proper safety gear and training

This sign went up near my mailbox yesterday. I looked up the PennDot schedule on line and didn't see anything for River Road. I called the township, they don't know about it either. Called Penndot but they don't have any work dates assigned yet, just said it was 11 miles from Rt 202 bridge to Dark Hollow Road. Not sure when but know River Road is going to be grated and paved soon ~ Jeni - Admin

there are about 50,000 homes without power in the state,
and 3000 in Bucks.

Not sure what happened, the cutover fuse just blew on the pole across from our house on River Road. My guess is a tree fell down somewhere near the antique store or Walters Nursery but don't know for sure. Our power is on but 2 houses south, I can hear their genetator running. If you are traveling south on River Road, it may not be passable ~ Jeni -Admin

It would be pretty great if we put more solar panels over parking lots instead of using farmland, because those spaces are already paved, hot, and sitting there doing nothing but baking cars all day. A solar canopy turns that wasted real estate into clean power while adding shade, keeping vehicles cooler, reducing heat buildup, and even helping protect pavement from constant sun and weather. Meanwhile, farmland can stay focused on what it does best, growing food and supporting local agriculture, instead of being squeezed by new land demands. It’s a smarter use of space: power where people already park, and fields left for crops.
