"Working Together For A Brighter Future" Also, the area has suffered economical hardship during recent years.

Mason County was formed in 1804 and named after George Mason of Fairfax County, Virginia. Today, Mason County is known for its scenic, rural countryside as well as an expanding business community. With the Great Kanawha River flowing Northwest through the county and flows into the Ohio River at Point Pleasant, Mason County is and always has been the site for river industries. The Point Pleasant Ri

ver Museum is the only one of its kind in West Virginia and it houses a valuable archival collection of artifacts and an extensive array of photos depicting early life along the rivers. Mason County has a rich historical past and, at the same time, offers the best educational training in our state-of-the-art schools. Our local hospitals provide the latest technology and health care service to rival any in this country. Tempered with all the modern conveniences, Mason Countians pride themselves as being hospitable and down-to-earth, while maintaining a pioneer spirit of moving forward with the times. Mason County experienced a great tragedy with the collapse of the Silver Bridge in December 1967. Despite discouraging setbacks and obstacles in the way, Mason County citizens have learned the importance of banding together to find ways to restore the old landmarks and add new interest to attract business and promote commerce. A short time back, the Kanawha Gateway Project was created to coordinate heritage tourism along the Kanawha River from Point Pleasant to Nitro. The goal is one of pooling resources to educate those new to Mason County and surrounding communities concerning recreational activities and special events in and around those towns.

A month later, we're still reflecting on what a wonderful evening we shared at the Mason County Chamber of Commerce Annual Dinner.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for a night of connection, celebration, and community. One of the greatest strengths of Mason County is the people behind our businesses and organizations, and it was an honor to bring so many of them together in one room.

A special thank you to Chef Paul Smith for sharing his story, insights, and encouragement with our guests. We appreciate the time he spent with our members and the inspiration he brought to the evening.

To our members, sponsors, volunteers, elected officials, community partners, and guests-thank you for your continued support of the Chamber and the local business community. We are grateful for the opportunity to serve Mason County and look forward to another year of working together to strengthen and grow our community.

Enjoy a few highlights from the evening!

Allison Pierce is honored to serve as the new Executive Director of the Mason Area Chamber of Commerce. In this role, she will continue to serve as the Marketing and Community Relations Coordinator at Rivers Health Hospital, where her dual focus on community engagement and economic development creates natural synergy between both positions.

A Mason County transplant of ten years, Allison has developed a deep appreciation for the area's unique character and the strength of its community connections. What began as a geographic move has evolved into a genuine love for the region and a commitment to its continued growth and prosperity. She resides in the town of Mason with her husband, Colin Pierce, a physical therapist and Mason County native, and their two daughters.

Allison brings a diverse professional background to the Chamber, having transitioned from a career in public education into the healthcare and community relations sector. This varied experience provides her with valuable perspective on collaboration, communication, and community building-skills that are essential to fostering strong business relationships and advancing the Chamber's mission.

In her current role at Rivers Health, Allison has worked to cultivate meaningful partnerships throughout the region, working to strengthen connections between healthcare, business, and community stakeholders. She looks forward to expanding this collaborative approach as Executive Director, supporting local businesses, promoting economic vitality, and championing the many assets that make Mason County a wonderful place to live, work, and grow.
