We’ve received more questions today regarding the City of Point page. Here is some more information about the page:

As each City of Point employee has a main job that includes working with customers, dealing with city issues and business, the page is not constantly monitored. We want to ensure residents and customers receive as timely attention as possible so we encourage people to call each department directly for concerns and questions.

REMINDER: *** ALWAYS CALL 911 FOR LIFE-THREATENING EMERGENCIES***

Commenting has been turned off for the page to enable it to function primarily as a way for the city to disseminate as quickly as possible. It is one way the city works to do this. We are aware that some were able to comment on a post but we have checked and rechecked the settings and they remain as they were originally set. We can only attribute the comments posted today as a glitch or a result of the issues with the page yesterday. We do not individually “block” or prevent any certain individual(s) from commenting. It is a blanket setting that is to be applied to all, regardless of whether they are a resident or not, a business or a person.

We continue to encourage all those with questions and concerns to call the city directly or come to city hall. We want to address your questions and concerns!

The City of Point created a page with the intent of disseminating important and timely information to residents. In navigating different issues with Facebook today, the city’s page was briefly unpublished, but once the issue was brought to the City of Point’s attention by a concerned citizen, the situation was rectified immediately. We apologize for the confusion, and will continue to use the page to provide information to residents.
We also appreciate the feedback and attention residents provide to the City of Point to help us do our jobs to the best of our abilities.
Citizens are welcome to call and speak to City of Point employees regarding any questions or concerns.
