UPDATE: The Bears Ears Youth Council application deadline has been extended to September 15, 2026.

The Bears Ears Inter-Tribal Coalition is proud to announce the second annual cycle of the Bears Ears Youth Council (BEYC), an initiative designed to empower the next generation of Tribal leaders and land stewards.

The BEYC is designed to empower Tribal Youth and build Tribal Capacity in the management of the Bears Ears area. Through hands-on experience in land stewardship, you’ll help shape the future of Bears Ears while gaining skills that support your career, education, and community.

This is our last call to youth ages 18–24 from the Zuni Tribe, the Hopi Tribe, the Navajo Nation, the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe, and the Ute Indian Tribe of Uintah and Ouray Reservation to apply for the program by September 15, 2026.

Program Details:
🗓️ Duration: September 17 – November 30, 2026
📅 Application Deadline: September 15, 2026
📍 Location: Bears Ears area (travel, meals, and lodging provided)

✨ Highlights:
- Guided site visits to Bears Ears
- Training in Tribally led collaborative land management
- Skill-building for future careers and education in conservation and cultural preservation

⚠️ROAD CONSTRUCTION REMINDER⚠️

The Hopi Department of Transportation (HDOT) will begin Project No. HIR-2 (12) Katsina Point Road on August 31, 2026. This project will begin from Katsina Point (Hopi/Navajo Boundary) to Kykotsmovi, a total of 23 miles. There will be one lane open which will cause delays, therefore, please allow yourself extra time for traveling. Or you may use alternative routes to Flagstaff.

Hopi Tribe - DPSES kindly asks motorists to drive slowly and obey all traffic laws and construction signs.
