Beads, candy, doubloons, and cups flew aplenty as the Town of Pollock’s Fifteenth Annual Mardi Gras parade rolled through the neighborhoods on Saturday morning, February 8th. The children-oriented parade drew a large number of spectators who stood along the parade route enjoying Mardi Gras music, decorated wagons and costumes, cheering the parade, and vying for trinkets and candy. The Krewe of Pollock was formed by Mayor Scott in 2005, so that the youth of the area might experience the fun of Mardi Gras in a safe and fun community environment. “This is all about our little ones,” said Pollock Mayor Jerome Scott. “The past years' parades were really good, but this one has been a blast for all ages. We had a great turnout, great weather, and a great time.”
Reminder: Family Dollar Grand Opening Saturday, February 1st at 10 AM. Come join in the festivities!
Family Dollar in Pollock Officially Opens
The doors of the long-awaited Family Dollar store opened Saturday, January 11th, at 8:00 A.M., within the corporate limits of Pollock. The town is very fortunate to have been selected as the site for the hybrid Family Dollar/Dollar Tree. Pollock has needed a general merchandise store for many years. According to Mayor Jerome Scott, “The people of this town deserve this wonderful addition. The effort spent attempting to bring the store to the people of Pollock has now paid off. It is a reality.”
This new Family Dollar will not only afford the people the convenience of shopping in their own town, but it will also bring jobs and sales tax revenue to the Town of Pollock. There are more than 8,000 Family Dollar stores located in the United States. Family Dollar is a variety/general store that offers an assortment of merchandise for the whole family ranging from clothing and toys to food and household items, and a host of other merchandise.
Our water operators hard at work, installing a new culvert at the intersection of North Street and Front Street. These guys help make Pollock a great place to live!
Pollock Celebrates Annual “SANTA IN THE PARK”
The Town of Pollock kicked off the yuletide season with its “Santa in the Park,” held on Saturday, November 30th, at the Town of Pollock Municipal Building. Jolly old Santa Claus was on hand for a visit with the little ones. Each child also received a special treat from Santa. The event brought a large crowd to Foster Park and the Municipal Building, which were beautifully decorated with many lights and lighted Christmas scenes. Mayor Jerome Scott was on hand to officially light the Town’s Christmas lights. According to Mayor Scott, “This annual event is one we especially look forward to each year - the coming together of or community family in the true and Holy Spirit of the Christmas season. We are a very blessed people, and I am so proud of Pollock. Merry Christmas to each of you, and may the upcoming year be as prosperous and happy as the last one.”
Thanks to everyone that came out to visit with Santa Claus! Here are some pictures of the adorable children of Pollock and surrounding areas with Santa!

Pollock’s Blessing Box Open and Seeking Donations
The Town Pollock is proud to announce that the Blessing Box is now available for use. As stated in Hebrews 13:16, “And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices, God is pleased.” The Blessing Box will be a place where anyone can donate to those less fortunate than themselves, or where people may come if they are in need of food staples. For some time, there have been needy families in our community, and Mayor Scott is pleased that our “community family” has stepped up to meet those needs. “We are thankful for the hard work of all those involved. We are also grateful that it came to fruition just in time for the holiday season.”
Mayor Jerome Scott would like to thank Mrs. Joy Bradford, Councilwoman Misty Kinn, and Ms. Cindy Dickey for being the main coordinators and making this happen for our community. Appreciation is extended to Sheriff Steven McCain for allowing Warden Bullock and the Grant Parish Detention Center to build the Blessing Box. Thank you, also, to those who stepped up to the plate to initially stock the Blessing Box. On behalf of the The Town of Pollock, Mayor Scott would also like to extend thanks to monetary donors who paid for the building supplies;
1. Police Juror Don Arnold:
2. Anonymous donor in memory of Don & Flo Roth:
3. Anonymous donor in memory of Patricia Scott:
4. Councilwoman Deborah Tumminello:
5. Anonymous donor in memory of C. R. & Bertie Langston:
6. Representative & Mrs. Gabe Firment.
The Blessing box is located in front of the Town of Pollock Municipal Building. It is now open for donations that will go to help those in need. Nonperishable food donations and hygiene products may be placed in the Blessing Box or brought to the Municipal Building. Monetary donations may be brought to the Municipal Building.
