Garfield County Fire District 1 Garfield County Fire District 1 provides fire, rescue, and ambulance service to the residents and visitors to Garfield County.

Tomorrow, Saturday August 1st, Garfield County will see extreme fire danger, particularly in the afternoon. Garfield County Fire is asking that mowing, harvest operations, and any activities with open flame or hot exhaust near grass be suspended beginning at 12 noon on Saturday until Sunday morning.

A combination of low humidity and high winds will hit the area in the afternoon and are creating the most severe fire potential we have seen in years according to the National Weather Service.

Tonight Garfield County Fire conducted our monthly skills training. Tonight was learning the basics about extrication equipment. Doing a block game with the extrication tools leads to understanding the tools controls and how to feather the controls when needed. It was a fun night thanks to Matt Bauska who instructed the training.
