City of Pomeroy to Host Hazardous Materials Mobile Collection Event on May 2nd, this is during Spring Clean-Up but at a separate collection site🚨🚨

Residents of Pomeroy and the surrounding areas will have a convenient opportunity to safely dispose of hazardous household materials during the Hazardous Materials Mobile Collection Event on Saturday May 2, 2026, from 8 a.m. to 10:00AM
The event will take place at 501 Park Ave, Pomeroy, Iowa 50575, and is hosted by the City of Pomeroy in partnership with the North Central Iowa Regional Solid Waste Agency (NCIRSWA) Household Hazardous Materials (HHM) Program.

Please enter the park on Park Ave(front gate) and exit out the north drive on the highway.

This event provides a safe and responsible way to dispose of common household hazardous materials that should not be placed in regular trash or recycling bins.
Accepted items for the Hazardous Materials Mobile Collection Event include oil-based paints, aerosols, household cleaners, yard and bug sprays, glues and adhesives, light bulbs, batteries, and SHARPS (needles/syringes). Residents can also bring poisons, pool chemicals, car care products such as windshield fluid and car cleaners, as well as insecticides, herbicides, and pesticides for proper disposal.
However, certain materials will not be accepted at the event. These include latex paint, used motor oil and motor oil filters, antifreeze, and business or farm chemicals. Additionally, fireworks, ammunition, explosives, radioactive materials, asbestos, medications, joint compounds, cement mixes, trash, and regular recycling will not be collected and should be disposed of through other appropriate channels.
Residents are encouraged to take advantage of this local event to properly dispose of hazardous materials from their homes. Without this collection, these materials would need to be taken directly to the Hazardous Materials Collection Facility in Fort Dodge.

SCAM: On FB someone is posing as D&K Implement, which is now Western Iowa Equipment, and has been for years. They are "selling" equipment. One man lost $14,000, he thought he was getting a skid loader. We have rec'd phone calls at City Hall from different states checking on D&K, because the deal seems to good to be true. Please copy and paste to your FB pages and tell your friends to share as well. Thank you.

Update: the Mini Mall will lose power due to the pole being replaced, City Hall and the Library will not be open this afternoon. MidAmerican says this outage will only affect the Mini Mall building.

Please avoid the alley behind city hall. MidAmerican is on their way.
